Erdrick's Sword for Boss Fights
The strongest weapon in the game is Erdrick's Sword, and it's the standout choice whenever you're fighting bosses. Besides having an incredible Attack stat, it can also be used as an item to cast a Wind spell on enemies.

Gringham Whip for Random Battles
Gringham Whip is the best choice for random encounters since you'll be able to hit an entire group of enemies with a single attack. However, if you have MP to spare, using spells like Kazap or using Holy Protection to avoid fights entirely is still better.
Alternatively, you could also use the Metal Wing Boomerang so that you hit all enemies in the field, but its effectiveness is reduced the more enemies there are. Plus, it's obtained slightly earlier than the Gringham Whip at 37 Mini Medals compared to all 40.

Erdrick's Shield is overall the best shield to use in the game, thanks to its defense and protection against spells and breath attacks.
Although, as a note, the Ogre Shield is a good alternative against bosses or random enemies that are reliant on physical attacks since it has the highest Defense stat amongst all the shields in the game.

For the headgear slot, the best options are either Erdrick's Helm or Duplic Hat. Erdricks' Helm provides the overall best defenses, but Duplic Hat provides a powerful effect that doubles casts any spell that is used.
If you feel like you can easily survive enemy attacks, especially from bosses, then Duplic Hat is the standout choice since you can cast doubled Wild Side or Divide boosted Kazaps.

Similar to the shield, Erdrick's Armor is the overall best armor piece to use because of its protection against spells and breath attacks, as well as its ability to gradually heal the Hero while walking.
However, if you have the Duplic Hat equipped, it can be better to use the Yggdrasil Dress Coat instead. Since Erdrick's Helm provides protection against status effects, you'll be susceptible to being Fizzled without the dress coat.
Best Accessories
Mark of Erdrick
The best accessory in the game is the Mark of Erdrick. Aside from increasing the Hero's Luck, which can help with landing critical hits, it also prevents the Hero from being killed by instant-death attacks!
How to Get Mark of Erdrick and Effects
Agility Ring
For the secondary accessory slot, the Agility Ring is often the best choice for a general Agility increase. This helps you act before the enemy, which can help with securing kills or healing the Hero if you're low on HP.
Asbestos and Anti-Freeze Earrings
If you're fighting against bosses that are heavily reliant on Fire or Ice attacks, you can opt to swap out the Mark of Erdricks for an Asbestos or Anti-Freeze Earring, respectively. This will help reduce the damage of Fire and Ice-based attacks, and can easily make or break an important boss fight.
