| Offensive spells are mainly used to deal damage to enemies. | |
| Recovery spells are mainly used to heal the Hero's HP. They can be used during or outside battles. | |
| Field spells only work when you're out of combat to help in exploration. | |
| Debuffing spells inflicts enemies with status effects, such as sleep or prevents them from using Spells. | |

There are five (5) types of spells in the game. Each type has its own function but some are only usable when out of combat or while exploring the overworld like the Field type.

Spells are more magical in nature, referring to things like healing, teleporting, inflicting debuffs, and conjuring elemental attacks to name a few. They consume MP when they're used.
If the Hero is inflicted by Fizzled, it can't use spells until the effect expires.

Abilities are more physical in nature, referring to various non-magic actions like weapon attacks and deflection. They also consume MP like Spells and share the same pool.
Unlike Spells, Abilities are not affected by Fizzled, meaning the Hero can still use abilities even while inflicted by the effect.
Souped-Up Skills are enhanced variants of existing skills that can be used under certain conditions, such as being below 50% HP or under the effects of Reheal or Focus Pocus.
When used, Souped-Up Skills have enhanced performance and greater effects.
