Difficulty Description
Dracky Quest For those who want to breeze through battles and savour the story. Switch to this difficulty if you find the going's got too tough.
Dragon Quest For those who want a fair challenge. If you're not sure which difficulty's for you, give this one a try!
Draconian Quest For those who want a real challenge. You'll face stronger foes, and earn fewer experience points and gold coins to boot.

Like Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake, Dragon Quest 1 includes three main difficulty settings, namely Dracky Quest, Dragon Quest, and Draconian Quest.

Each difficulty enables you to choose on how you want to tacke your journey and overall progress throughout the game.

Best Difficulty Settings

Dragon Quest or Draconian Quest

It is recommended that the game be played on either Dragon Quest or Draconian Quest difficulty for your first run. Dracky Quest wll make the game a bit trivial, depriving the game of any strategy required to defeat enemies and bosses encountered.

Dragon Quest balances the challenge of the game while enabling players to also experience its accessibility, while Draconian Quest provides a difficulty curve that can be reminiscent of the original Dragon Quest.
