Purchased in shops or found in the world and worn on the body, Armour is a primary source of Defence for the Hero. The Defence rating is calculated alongside the Hero's Resilience stat to reduce incoming damage in combat.

Some suits of armor armor, like the Magic Armour, also bestows a special effect on the Hero.

Best Armor in DQ1

Erdrick’s Armour Has the Highest Defence Stat

Erdrick’s Armour is the best armour in the game. Apart from having the highest Defence stat among all armours, it reduces the damage from Spells and Breath damage by 1/3, restores HP slowly while walking in the overworld, and protects you from poison swamps.

Magic Armour Restores HP and Reduces Spell Damage

Magic Armour is also a great armour. It has a lower Defence stat than Erdrick’s Armour but it recovers HP while walking and reduces the damage of spells.

Full Plate Armour is another great armour. It has the same Defence stat as the Magic Armor but has no additional effects.
