The Magic Pot will ask Zack to use different Materias depending on the mission or encounter. Be sure to equip the correct ones before facing the Magic Pot to complete the encounter successfully.
| Materias | |
|---|---|

When encountering the Magic Pot, it will instruct Zack to use the Materias one by one in a certain sequence.
Carefully follow the sequence to unlock rewards.
The first time you correctly follow the Magic Pot’s sequence of commands, you will unlock the Magic Pot in the DMW system, granting the DMW ability Item Mugger. Pay close attention to its instructions to claim this first‑encounter reward.
On subsequent encounters, you can still earn rare item drops by following the Magic Pot’s commands.

Failing to follow the Magic Pot’s commands will cause it to run away. If this happens, you can forfeit the battle to review your Materia or equipment and try again. Doing so allows you to attempt the encounter correctly without missing the reward.

Addendum, if you're unlucky with the Magic Pot in M7-6-6: The Determined Recruiter (which asks you to perform Octaslash), you can still forfeit when the pot says "Boring" and before it leaves/ends the battle. Even with Heavenly limit and the Octaslash materia, you can still get unlucky.
