Enemies that appear on Missions often have Status Enhancements that make them difficult to defeat using Physical and Magic attacks.
We recommend using Dispel and Dispel Blade to counter these enemies as they remove Status Enhancements from enemies.
There will also be enemies with high HP and Spirit value. These enemies can be difficult to defeat as their defenses are high.
When encountering these kinds of enemies, prepare a battle strategy that does not focus completely on Physical Strength and Spirit alone. It is also important to remember that Gravity-type magic is often effective against enemies with high phyiscal strength.
Darkness | Deals damage that ignores physical strength at the cost of HP. HP consumption is 1/8 of maximum HP. |
---|---|
Iron Fist, Magical Punch, Hammer Punch, Costly Punch | Punch technique Command Materia. All these attacks ignore physical strength. |
Gravity, Graviga | These spells deal damage to the opponent and are especially effective against enemies with large amounts of HP. Some enemies can nullify these attacks. |
Keychain and Backpack are of top priority Clear Missions with Easy difficulty right away Acquire the Barrier Materia Aim for accessories with high ATK and Magic values
|
Once you get access to Missions in the early stages of the game, it is recommended to finish the simplest ones right away. The top priority is to obtain the Keychain and Backpack items to increase your equipped accessories limit.
Once you've got those down, it's time to focus on obtaining accessories that increase your Atk and Magic. As your attack power increases, you will be able to clear more difficult missions. It's also recommended to get a Barrier Materia early on to raise your physical defense.
Status Ward, Safety Bit, and Hell Blizzaga are great countermeasures Acquire all Punch Command Materia | Iron Fist, Magical Punch, Hammer Punch Get the Adaman Bangle and Brutal Accessories
|
Missions will start getting more challenging in the middle stages of the game. Enemies will use more attacks that cause status ailments, so countermeasures are essential. Equipping Status Ward, Safety Bit, and Hell Blizzaga will help prevent many status ailments including Instant Death. You can purchase these from the Wutai Secret Shop.
Obtaining the Adaman Bangle and Brutal accessories should also tremendously help increase the max HP and damage limits, which are needed to make you stronger against high-difficulty missions.
Prioritize making Costly Punch Acquire Genji Items Obtain and fuse Materia with high stat value
|
The Mission under the final Mission Categories, beginning from the Great Cavern of Wonders, have a high degree of difficulty as you will encounter enemies with large HP. Obtain materia with high stat value that can be obtained from missions to raise base stats.
Furthermore, obtaining Costly Punch by fusing materia or finding it in a Mission Chest will secure you with high firepower. Lastly, getting some Genji items such as the Genji Shield and Genji Glove will ensure you are prepared for the final mission.
If you leave for Nibelheim in the main story, the following missions in the table below will no longer be available. Those who aim to complete all Missions should complete these before heading to Nibelheim in the end of Chapter 7.

With the remaster costly punch is outpaced by most other command materia late game, it’s pretty slow and leaves you very vulnerable. Jump commands like aerial drain and high jump are fast and have great invincibility frames and with an attack of over about 125 you’ll do the same damage anyways. Gil toss and gravity are better for high resistance enemies.
