Base Stats Explained: What Does Each Stat Mean?

Crisis Core: Reunion Stats

List of Stats and Effects

Stat What It Does
SP The amount of Soldier Points you have. This is a passive stat gained from defeating enemies and is used to spin the DMW. SP is also used for Materia Infusion.
HP The amount of Health Points you have. While the maximum HP limit is up to 9999, equipping certain accessories go beyond that.
MP The amount of Magic Points you have. MP is consumed when you use Magic Materia. While the maximum MP limit is up to 9999, equipping certain accessories go beyond that.
AP The amount of Ability Points you have. AP is consumed when you use Command Materia. While the maximum AP limit is up to 9999, equipping certain accessories go beyond that.
ATK Increases DMG dealt using Physical Attacks such as Normal Attacks and Command Materia. This stat also increases DMG dealt using Limit Breaks that deal Physical DMG. The maximum ATK Limit is 255.
VIT Reduces DMG taken from Physical Attacks. The maximum VIT Limit is 255.
MAG Increases DMG dealt using Magic Attacks coming from Magic Materia. The maximum MAG Limit is 255.
SPR Reduces DMG taken from Magic Attacks. The maximum SPR Limit is 255.
LUK Increases the chance to deal critical hits and helps you get rare items. The maximum LUK Limit is 255.

Which Stat Should You Increase?

ATK is one of the most important stats to upgrade as most of your attacks will deal Physical damage. HP is also important to raise for overall survivability.

VIT and SPR are necessary in the later chapters for reducing damage taken as enemies will dish out stronger attacks.

How to Increase Stats

Stats can be increased by leveling up or equipping Materia that can upgrade stats. As there is a maximum limit for each stat, it is important to choose which Materia you should use to avoid wasting unused stat increases.
