| M8-6-4: S.O.S?** | Farm Scissor Chitins in random encounters to gain large EXP and level up fast. | • Blast Wave (AoE Damage) • Darkness (AoE Damage) |
M1-1-6: 1000 Shinra Troops is available in Chapter 1 and works as the earliest reliable EXP farm. Recommended loadout is optional since enemies are weak.
M8-6-4: S.O.S? is available in Chapter 3 and becomes the main mid-game EXP spot. AoE Damage is recommended but not required.
Level Farming: The Fastest Way To Level Up Zack
EXP is earned by defeating enemies. Once Zack reaches the EXP threshold for the next level, the DMW gains a chance to roll a 777 spin, which will level him up.
Farming EXP raises Zack’s base stats and survivability. Addiontally, excess EXP increases the chances of multiple level-ups from 777 DMW spins.
| Mission | Strategy | Recommended Loadout |
|---|---|---|
| M6-1-5: Buried in the Caverns | Defeat Tonberries for 500 Gil each. | • Mog's Amulet • Brigand's Gloves |
| M9-5-3: Unusually Strong Monsters | Defeat the Three Stars for Mythril Armlets that sell for 10,000 Gil each. | • Precious Watch • Jeweled Ring • Ether |
| M9-6-2: The Lowest Tier | Steal Gold Rolling Pins from Holy Tonberries that sell for 50,000 Gil each. | • Mog's Amulet • Jeweled Ring • Brigand's Gloves • Item Mugger |
M6-1-5: Buried in the Caverns is available in Chapter 2 and serves as the main early game Gil farm. Players can defeat multiple Tonberries, each dropping 500 Gil, which is much higher than normal enemies at this stage.
M9-5-3: Unusually Strong Monsters is available in Chapter 3 and becomes a common mid game farming spot for Mythril Armlets. Recommended loadout doubles item and Gil drops, making farming more efficient.
M9-6-2: The Lowest Tier is available in Chapter 3 and is the best long term Gil farm. You need the recommended loadout to steal Gold Rolling Pins consistently.
Gil is the in-game currency used to buy items, equipment, and upgrades. Farming it is important to ensure you can afford essential gear, consumables, and Materia enhancements, especially during difficult story missions and late-game content.
Later in the game, valuable items like the Gold Rolling Pin can be farmed for large amounts of Gil.
Gil Farming Guide: How to Get Gil Fast
Enemies called Movers grant a significant amount of SP, making them ideal targets for efficient SP farming in missions where they appear.
Since Movers have high VIT and SPR, the most effective way to defeat them is with punch-type abilities like Costly Punch, which bypasses both VIT and SPR
| Type and Acquired SP | Mission |
|---|---|
| Mover (SP:4000) |
|
| Mover RE (SP:4000) |
|
| Mover EX (SP:8000) |
SP (Soldier Points) is used for Materia Fusion and is earned by defeating enemies or when DMW patterns align.
By avoiding damage while defeating foes, you can multiply the SP gained. Do this often to quickly level Materia and unlock stronger abilities.
SP Farming Guide: Best Ways to Farm SP
| Source | Strategy | Recommended Loadout |
|---|---|---|
| Misson 9‑6-6: Minerva (The Reigning Deity) | Use Steal or Mug on Minerva at the start of the fight to obtain x99 Phoenix Down. | • Brigand's Gloves • Steal • Mug |
Misson 9‑6-6: Minerva (The Reigning Deity) is available in Chapter 3 and is the fastest Phoenix Down farm. Stealing or Mugging gives x99 Phoenix Downs, which provide automatic revival against Minerva’s strongest attacks. Recommended loadout is required, along with a good supply of Potions and Ethers.
Phoenix Down is a consumable item that fully restores a character’s HP when they are incapacitated, and farming it ensures you have enough on hand to survive tough battles and boss fights without relying solely on shops.
How to Beat Minerva: Boss Fight Strategy Guide
| Mission | Strategy | Battle Stance |
|---|---|---|
| M1-1-1: Shinra Basic Training | Early mission with multiple enemy attacks; good for Guard proficiency. | Guard + Strong Attack |
| M1-1-3: 50 Shinra Troops | High-density battle that gives many opportunities for Strong Attacks and Guard. | Strong Attack + AoE Command Materia (Darkness or Quake) |
| M9-6-5: Life Form of Energy | Ideal for unlocking Barrier Piercing and Barrier Break abilities. | Strong Attack + AoE Command Materia (Darkness) 255 VIT and SPR recommended |
M1-1-1: Shinra Basic Training and M1-1-3: 50 Shinra Troops are available in Chapter 1 are the easiest early missions to farm proficiency. Use Guard, Strong Attacks, or AoE Command Materia to gain proficiency easily.
M9-6-5: Life Form of Energy is available in Chapter 3 and is the best late game mission for mastering Buster Sword Proficiency. Enemies use Barrier, letting you unlock Barrier Piercing and Barrier Break through Battle Stance and Strong Attacks.
Buster Sword Proficiency increases as Zack performs actions during Battle Stance.
Successfully Guarding, using Strong Attacks, or executing Command Materia each raises proficiency by 0.01%–0.03% per action. You can gain up to 0.57% proficiency per battle, with rare random boosts of 10%.
