Tall Tale Can be Found in Castaway's Camp

To start the Lords of the Sea Tall Tale, visit any Castaway's Camp and interact with the sword located on the right side of their tent. As Castaway's Camps are found in all outposts, you can begin it immediately upon starting a session.

Look for the Davy Jones Cloud

Sail towards the open sea and search for the cloud resembling Davy Jones. Keep following the cloud until its eyes turn green. When you spot the green eyes, it means you're nearing the spire, which will emerge from the sea as you approach.

Defeat the Phantom Ships

Once you reach the spire, phantom ships will start attacking you, and you'll need to fight them in four phases. The first phase is fairly easy, as you'll only need to sink five ships, and each ship will go down with only three cannonballs.

Be Mindful of Ocean Crawlers

During this fight, Ocean Crawlers will also board your ship and attack you. Make sure to defeat them as well, especially if you're aiming to earn The Sea Rises commendation.

Take Down the Siren Statues

In the second phase, Siren Statues will eventually appear, along with more ghost ships ambushing you. Take down two statues to move on to the next phase.

After that, the third phase will require you to take down three statues. However, this time, you'll be doing this alone, as Jack Sparrow will board the Black Pearl to fend off the ghost ships.

How to Destroy Siren Statues

Siren Statues are the statues inside the glowing red bubble that may resemble a shield, but it serves no purpose. You can simply destroy statues by hitting them with at least five cannonballs each.

Destroy All Captain Ships

After taking down the siren statues, you'll enter the last phase where Davy Jones will begin deploying Captain Ships. Unlike the phantom ships, which can be taken down with just a few cannonballs, these ones are tougher and may require up to 10 hits. Take all of them down to access the Spire.

Reach the Top of the Spire

Once you gain access to the spire, you need to reach the top and speak to Cutler Beckett. At the top of the room will be the Dead Man's Chest, which you will also need to open to progress.

The first half of the ten journals will also be located here, so make sure to collect them before proceeding to the top room of the Spire.

Defeat the Phantoms to Get the Key

After interacting with Cutler Beckett, a fight against phantoms will break out. Defeat all of them to obtain the Dead Man's Chest Key. Once cleared, use the key to unlock the chest and wait for lightning to strike it.

Defeat the Flying Dutchman

Next, return to your ship and wait for the Flying Dutchman to appear. This will be a boss fight, so make sure you're prepared. Since this involves ship combat, make sure to have plenty of cannonballs, as you'll need them to take down the Flying Dutchman.

Board the Black Pearl Ship

After sinking the Flying Dutchman, the Spire will eventually disappear as well. You can then return to sailing the seas until you see the Black Pearl. Sail alongside it until you can board it. Like with every other ship, you can find ladders on each side of its hull, so use them to get on the ship.

Stock Up on Resources Before Starting

Since this Tall Tale heavily relies on ship combat, you should get as many cannonballs as you can even before starting it. This is especially important if you're aiming to earn all the commendations.

You can get cannonballs by simply buying them from an outpost or collecting them from crates on different islands.

Use the Harpoon to Pick Up Crates

In case you run low on cannonballs, try sailing around until you spot some barrels on the sea. Pick them up using your harpoon and open them to get more cannonballs, and even wood if you're low on it from repairing your ship.

You can also destroy other ghost ships from earlier combat to get more cannonballs. Each phantom ship will drop these barrels, so make sure to get them as well.

Avoid Getting Hit by the Shockwave

Try to maintain a distance between your ship and Davy Jones's. If you get too close, he will attempt to hit your ship with a shockwave, causing immediate holes similar to a kraken attack.

Dock Near the Spire

As mentioned, when facing the Flying Dutchman, it's best to maintain a distance to avoid getting hit by its shockwave. One effective method is to dock near the spire to prevent drifting too close to it.

Staying docked can also help in shooting cannons consecutively, as the Flying Dutchman will have no choice but to approach you. While it's approaching, shoot as many cannonballs as you can until it turns away.

Perdition of the Past Journal Location

To find the Perdition of the Past journal, simply continue climbing the spire until you encounter two small waterfalls along your path. Take the left path at the fork in the road, where you'll see the journal resting against the rocks.

Marooned Journal Location

Continue climbing the spire until you reach a bridge. On the other side, you'll find the next journal, Marooned, on the left, next to a phantom.

A Strange Escape Journal Location

Along the way, you'll also encounter a mast. Climb it, and you'll reach a room with iron bars. You can find the A Strange Escape journal on the left, under a plant.

I Serve Davy Jones Journal Location

From the same room, take the slide and use it to descend to a lower level. The next journal, I Serve Davy Jones, will be located next to another phantom on the far right.

A Company Man Journal Location

Look for the shipwreck and find a way to the upper deck. You'll find the last journal here, A Company Man, beside a phantom holding a candle.

A Longing Journal Location

The next five journals will be on the Black Pearl, which only appears after defeating the Flying Dutchman. The first journal, A Longing, can be found on the table inside the Captain's Quarters.

A Rumor Journal Location

Next, head to the helm of the Black Pearl. In front of it, you'll find the second journal, A Rumor.

A Plan Journal Location

The next journal, A Plan, will be just behind the helm. You can find it sitting on top of the railing to your right.

A Theft Journal Location

Next, head to the front of the ship. Under the mast, you'll find the A Theft journal.

A Problem Journal Location

Finally, the last journal, A Problem, can be found under the main deck. From the front of the ship, head down and turn left until you reach the brig. Behind the brig, you'll find the last journal.
