Sea of Thieves - Safer Seas

Ghost Fleet World Events can appear even if the player opts to play in Safer Seas. However, in Safer Seas, you will get less gold for turning in treasure than when playing in High Seas.

In exchange for the lower rewards, you'll be safer while transporting your loot compared to High Seas where other players can fight you for your Ghost Fleet loot.

Tips for Beating the Ghost Fleet

Prepare Enough Resources Before Tackling a Ghost Fleet

The Ghost Fleet is one of the hardest events in the game as you'll be fighting off multiple Ghost Ships at once. Since this is an open seas event, playing on High Seas will also pose the danger of enemy player crews looking to gank you in order to get the event loot.

With the rather large spike in difficulty, we recommend having more than a hundred planks, a hundred cannonballs, and lots of food before you challenge the Ghost Fleet. Given that this is a multi-ship event battle, it is better to be overprepared than underprepared.

Raise Sails to Halfway and Shoot Cannonballs from Far Away

It is recommended for players to raise their sails to halfway point so that you have full control of the ship and also to not zoom past where you are going.

Sail as far away as possible from Ghost Ships as they can deal devastating damage when you are shot by their cannonballs.

A normal Ghost Ship will only take 3 shots with any type of cannonball. Ashen Dragon Ships take 10 shots and Burning Blade will take 24 Shots.

Take Out Ships that Just Spawned

Throughout the fight, you will notice that Ghost Ships spawn by coming out of portals. If you're near one of them, take out the Ghost Ship that just spawned so you can clear the first and third waves faster.

Defeat Normal Ghost Ships First Before the Bosses

Sea of Thieves - Ghost Fleet Normal Ships

Normal ships does not have a special design on their sails.

During the second wave, two Ashen Dragon ships will spawn alongside 2 normal Ghost Ships for each Ashen Dragon Ship.

During the fourth wave, Captain Flameheart's ship - the Burning Blade - will spawn alongside the ships from the second wave. Focus on defeating the normal Ghost Ships first before targetting the boss ships as they drop useful loot.

Defeating the boss ships first will automatically finish the wave, denying you from getting additional rewards.

Shoot the Ghost Mines

Occassionally, the enemy ships will drop Ghost Mines which will explode upon touching it. Use your gun to shoot them before your ship hits them.
