Selling treasure to a Trading Company representative is one of the simplest ways to gain Reputation in Sea of Thieves. Keep in mind that each trading company will only accept specific treasure.

Players who manage to attain a high Emissary Grade for a Trading Company will receive a bonus multiplier for Reputation whenever you hand over treasure to them. The higher the Emissary Grade, the more Reputation you will earn.
You can start being an Emissary for a Trading Company by purchasing an Emissary License after reaching Reputation Level 15 for them.
Completing Commendations listed under a Trading Company will earn you some Reputation. These Commendations are milestones achieved through doing various tasks for a Trading Company.
You can view Trading Company Commendations through the Pirate Log or by talking to any representative.
Buying a Letter of Recommendation from Larinna at any Outpost will increase your Reputation by one level for a Trading Company. You may purchase these letters for 30 Doubloons each.
There are only 4 Letters of Recommendation that you can buy.

Promotions are earned every 5 Reputation levels with a Trading Company and entitles you to receive rewards such as a new title, new cosmetic items that you can buy from their shop, as well as unlocking new voyages.
