Find the Starting Location Beside the Tallulah

You can start Heart of Fire Tall Tale beside the Tallulah in the Tavern at Morrow's Peak Outpost (V-17). Press the Vote for Tall Tale button to start the quest.

Note: This Tall Tale can also be started from your quest table. However, you will still need to go to a Tavern and speak to the Mysterious Stranger in order to unlock the Tall Tale book with clues.

Sail to the Liar's Backbone (S-11)

Sail to the Liar's Backbone (S-11) and find the lever on the island. Pull the lever to open the secret door that leads to a cave hideout.

Solve the Block Puzzle

Inside the hideout are carved symbols on the rocks that serve as hint to the block puzzle in the lair and an altar dedicated to Captain Flameheart. The carved symbols are written as dedication to "King Flameheart", which is the answer to the block puzzle.

Rotate the blocks so that the symbols represent King, Flame, and Heart. Pull the lever on the left side so that the heart shaped door opens to reveal the Mysterious Key and Sticher's Notes.

Sail to The Devil's Thirst (W-21)

Read the new pages added to the Tale Book to learn that Captain Flameheart's lair is hidden below the waves at the north beach of The Devil Thirst (W-21).

Light the Torch at the Top of the Island

Once you make your way to The Devil's Thirst, climb up tall rock at the northern side of the island and light the torch at the top.

This causes the torches on the island to light up, showing you where to go to look for Captain Flameheart's underwater lair.

Dive Underwater to Find Captain Flameheart's Cave

Dive underwater and find the orange rocks in front of a wall with a skull-shaped carving on it.

Place the Mysterious Key on the pedestal with the orange circular outline to open the cave's entrance.

Follow the Orange Rocks

The next sequence requires you to swim through the cave. Follow the orange rocks as you make your way inside. When you reach the lava part, jump on the rock platforms to reach the next area.

You will need to swim underwater on the cave again, so follow the orange rocks as it leads you to a new area where you have the option to choose between three paths: The Path of the Eternal King (blue door), The Path of the Forsaken Flame (green door), or The Path of the Burning Heart (red door).

Choose a Path and Avoid the Traps

Regardless of which door to take, all of the paths lead to one location though each path has different set of obstacles and different journals.

If you want to complete all commendations for this Tall Tale, you will need to go through all three paths.

It is recommended to choose the red door on the rightmost side of the chamber as it has the shortest path compared to the other two.

Blue Door Path Traps

The blue door path contains fire traps where you need to wait for the fire to disappear before you can run to the next area. It also contains platforming segments where you need to jump on rocks to avoid falling into the lava.

Green Door Path Traps

The red door path consists of fire traps and platforming segments similar to the obstacles from the blue door path.

On the area with skeleton cages, you need to use the lantern to light the torch on the cage near the locked gate use a Fire Bomb on the skull statue at the top to light it. Find the pulley and use it to pull up the cage where you first lit the torch on to activate the second skull statue.

Red Door Path Traps

The red door path consists of sawblade obstacles and a swinging blade obstacles. On the area with the wall spikes, you need to hide in the corner and wait for the spikes to disappear before running and hiding to the next corner.

Pick Up Stitcher's Chest of Rage

Once you reach the final door of either of the three paths, enter the open door and follow the path down.

Jump on the rock platforms to avoid the lava, climb up the ladder, and follow the wooden path leading towards Stitcher's Chest of Rage. Picking up the chest earns you The Fire Rises Commendation.

Return Stitcher's Chest of Rage to Pendragon

1	Throw a Fire Bomb on the skull on the left to open the door.
2	Pick up the chest and make your way through the fire obstacles. Stick to the left side and wait for the fire to disappear before moving on to the next obstacle.
3	Throw a Fire Bomb on the skull on the right side to open the door. If you do not have any more Firebombs, you can place Stitcher's Chest of Rage next to the skull and wait for it to explode to set the skull on fire.
4	Make your way through the second set of fire obstacles. Dodge the moving spike traps on the next area.
5	Defeat the group of skeletons on the open area. Use the capstan to raise the door that leads to the next area.
6	Continue on to the next step of obstacles. Avoid the spike and fire traps as you walk on the narrow wooden paths.
7	Swim underwater and follow the orange rocks. Emerge to the surface and give the chest to Pendragon to complete the Tall Tale.

We Need a New Plan Journal Location

Sail to the Liar's Backbone (S-11) and find the level that you can pull to open the door that leads to a cave. Enter the cave and look to your left to find the book on a wooden shelf hanging on a rock wall.

Disorder of Souls Journal Location

The second journal is located in the chamber where you can choose between three paths. Go to the middle path and find the journal sitting on an elevated platform on the right side of the middle path's door.

Bye Bye, Blackwyche Journal Location

The journal is located in the middle green door path of the chamber. After defeating the waves of skeleton open the pulley to the next area and find the journal sitting on a pile of skulls on a rock.

A Chest of Rage... Journal Location

Enter the leftmost blue door on the chamber area of Captain Flameheart's Lair.

Make your way through the the area until you reach a room where you need to jump on the rock platforms to avoid the lava. Find the journal on the leftmost rock.

The devil I know... Journal Location

Enter the rightmost red door on the chamber area of Captain Flameheart's Lair. Progress through the path until you reach the area with spike traps that appear on the left side of the wall. The journal is located on the second corner where you will have to hide to avoid the spikes.
