Raid Sea Forts

Sea of Thieves - Sea Fortress

Plundering Sea Fortresses is one of the fastest ways to earn Gold since they they can be done in under 15 minutes. These forts contain a wide variety of chests and crates filled with spices that can be sold to Trading Companies. You can earn a total of around 10,000 to 12,000 Gold if you sell every piece of loot.

Upon arriving at a fortress, you will have to clear out waves of Phantom Pirates until the Phantom Captain spawns. Defeat the captain to obtain the Fortress Treasury Key to unlock the treasure room of the fort.

Unlock the Store Room for More Loot

Other than the main treasure room, the top floor has a storage room with additional treasure inside it. You will need the Fortress Store Room Key to open it, which can be found randomly inside cupboards, cabinets, and crates in the fortress.

Siren Shrines are underwater locations filled with puzzles, which upon solving all of them and reaching the end of the shrine, you will be rewarded with treasure that you can sell for gold.

You can find shrines from the surface by looking for purple glowing aura while sailing. Dive down until you reach a coral-infested kingdom. Enter it and fight your way through hordes of hostile sea creatures until you find the treasure room.

Use the Mermaid Statue to Transport Loot

There will be a Mermaid Statue in the treasure room that you can use to transport treasure out of the Shrine. Once done, use the statue to teleport to your ship and look for a mermaid with a purple flare on the water. Interact with them and all the treasure you've collected will float up to the water.

Salvage Shipwrecks

Sea of Thieves - Seagulls

While sailing, you may come across a flock of seagulls flying around in circles. This indicates that there is a sunken ship nearby. These shipwrecks contain chests, items, and other valuables inside.

You will have to dive underwater and swim inside the ship to gather the loot. Eating bananas are useful while doing this to prolong your health, since you may run out of oxygen while scavenging.

Participate in World Events

Sea of Thieves - Ghost Fleet World Event

Perhaps the riskiest way to earn a ton of gold is by taking part in World Events. These events mainly consist of battling waves of enemies and a boss fight in the end, where you can obtain valuable treasure as drops, or a key which leads you to a treasure vault room.
