What is the Merchant Alliance?

A Company That Means Business

The Merchant Alliance is company of prim and proper merchants who take pride in their ability to transport cargo across the seas.

Transport Cargo Quickly and Safely

The Merchant Alliance will send you on Voyages to deliver goods such as live animals through Merchant Contracts, shipping of general items via Cargo Runs, and finding lost and sunken treasure in Lost Shipments.

Sell Crates for Rewards

The Merchant Alliance will accept Crates that contain all kinds of goods, commodities, and live animals. Selling these items to the Merchant Alliance will reward you with company Reputation as well as Gold.

Merchant Alliance Promotions

Ranks, Titles and Rewards

Promotions in the Merchant Alliance trading company will increase your rank, earning you new Titles and cosmetics for each promotion.

In order to earn a promotion in the Merchant Alliance, you must earn Reputation by selling crates to the company, achieving Commendations, and sailing as an Emissary.

Merchant Alliance Voyages

Merchant Contract

Merchant Contract Voyages involve collecting animals found at marked locations, putting them into cages, and delivering them safe and sound back to the company.

Cargo Run

In Cargo Run, you are tasked to locate NPCs and help deliver their cargo to different recipients across the seas, swiftly and intact.

Lost Shipment

Taking on Lost Shipment voyages will have you retrace the steps of another merchant vessel, which had sunk and lost its cargo. Find this lost and sunken cargo and return it to reap your rewards.

Tutorial

New players who have just completed the Maiden Voyage tutorial level will gain access to the Merchant Alliance tutorial voyage, An Introduction to the Merchant Alliance as soon as they reach the Sea of Thieves.

You can access and start this introductory voyage from your ship's quest table. Complete it to learn more about this trading company and what you can expect to do if you decide to become their emissary in the future.

Medley

Medley voyages are longer voyages with several voyage types thrown into the mix. Embarking on these will give you a mixture of Merchant Contract, Cargo Run, and Lost Shipment quests to complete.

Raid Voyages

Raids are highly dangerous voyages where you will have to fight multiple waves of difficult monsters on land as well as in naval combat. These are not unique to Merchant Alliance as they are available for all Trading Companies.

Merchant Alliance Commendations

40 Merchant Alliance Commendations Available

There are 40 Commendations for the Merchant Alliance. Completing these commendations will unlock new Titles and cosmetics for you and your ship.

Some commendations will have up to five Grades. Earning a Grade will earn you some Reputation. Only after reaching the final Grade will you receive the reward for the particular Commendation.

Merchant Alliance Emissary Guide

How to Become an Emissary

You can become a Merchant Alliance Emissary by purchasing the company's Emissary License from the company shop, which allows you to raise an Emissary Flag.

You can raise the Emissary Flag at the table next to the Merchant Alliance company representative in all Outposts. Doing this makes you an emissary for the company, allowing you to rank up your Emissary Grade, and raise your Emissary Value.

Emissary Grades

Emissary Grades are tied to the Emissary Flag you are currently sailing. Completing Voyages while flying the Merchant Alliance' flag will advance your Emissary Grade for the Merchant Alliance, thus earning you highly increased rewards.

Merchant Alliance Emissaries have five Grades that you can rank up by completing Voyages as an Emissary. Within each Grade are separate Tiers that you work towards to unlock new Titles and cosmetics.

Note that flying a Grade Five Emissary Flag makes you a target for Reaper's Bones Emissaries.

Emissary Value

Increasing your Emissary Value will put you on the global leaderboard called the Emissary Ledger. Placing on the leaderboard will earn you great rewards like Titles and company Sails.
