Experience (EXP) and Loyalty Points earned from story battles remain the same across all difficulty levels. Increasing the difficulty will not affect the amount of EXP or Loyalty Points gained, so there's no need to play on a higher difficulty just to level up faster.

The difficulty level doesn't change any game content, so you can choose whichever setting you prefer without losing access to anything. Whether you're playing on Sleuth or Detective Legend, all story events, battles, and rewards remain the same.

Enemy damage scales with difficulty. Sleuth is the only mode where player deaths are disabled, offering a safer and more forgiving experience. All other difficulties allow player deaths and increase the power of enemy attacks.
For example, based on some tests from an early-game battle, enemies deal 2 damage with normal attacks and 9 with strong ones on Sleuth. On Gumshoe, this rises to 5 and 18, then to 10 and 36 on Private Eye, and finally 15 and 54 on Truth Seeker.

To unlock Detective Legend, clear the game once on any difficulty. This mode is the ultimate challenge, designed for players who want to push their limits with tougher enemies and extreme resource costs.

Perfect for casual players or those who want a stress-free experience. Raidou and his demons can’t die, allowing you to enjoy the story without worrying about gameovers or heavy resource management.

Ideal for casual players who can still experience the game for the first time without being too easy. You’ll still engage in combat and manage demons.

The standard setting offers a balanced mix of story and challenge. Good for players who want to experience the full game without excessive difficulty. A strategy helps but isn't required for survival.

A step up for players comfortable with dodging, timing, and efficient resource use. Enemies hit harder and mistakes cost more. Recommended for returning players or ARPG veterans.

Unlocked after beating the game once, This difficulty is required to 100% the game. Raidou takes four times more damage, deals half, and escaping battles takes thirty times longer. MAG, item, and summoning costs are drastically increased. Every decision matters, and only the most strategic players will survive.

You can freely change the difficulty at any time during your playthrough. If a boss fight feels too overwhelming or too easy, adjust the setting to match your comfort level.
