Species | Molduga |
This massive monster swims beneath the desert's sand. It is a subspecies of Molduga that stored up a great deal of energy by sleeping underground for hundreds of years. It's power is superior to Molduga, as it's skin is rich with iron and acts as a protective shield. |
Molduking is a mini-boss which is fought in the Urbosa's Song portion of the DLC Quest titled The Champion's Ballad. It is found in the Gerudo Desert, and must be defeated in order to unlock Keive Tala Shrine.

Remote Bombs are the best item to use against a Molduking. Lure it out and leave a Remote Bomb and let him have it. You can stop Molduking's movement if you manage to detonate a Remote Bomb inside its mouth.
Once Molduking stops moving and shows itself from the ground, use a charged attack with a Two-Handed weapon. If you manage to have Urbosa's Fury, it can be charged to deal more damage on Molduking.
Another way to attack the Molduking is to aim for its stomach with an arrow once it jumps out of the sand. A perfect hit on the stomach can stun it and leave it open.
However, this method is only optional. It is still more efficient to use Remote Bombs against it instead of wasting precious arrows.
Standing on the sand is suicide when fighting a Molduking. It can find you as long as you stand on the sand, so be sure to look for a solid ground near it before fighting.
Make sure to use 3-4 star armor when fighting a Molduking. It may seem like an easy opponent to beat, but it can kill you in just one shot. Be sure that you equip whatever high defense armor you have, or go to the Great Fairy to level up first.
