Seals come in three different shapes: square, hexagon, and sun-shaped. Seals that have the same shape will resonate with one another if they are placed in the same weapon, which will provide an additional attack bonus on the weapon.
| Seal Resonance | Attack Bonus |
|---|---|
| 2 Seals with the Same Shape | +5 |
| 3 Seals with the Same Shape | +5 |
| 2 Same-Shape Seals + 2 Different Same-Shape Seals | +10 |
| 4 Seals with the Same Shape | +15 |
Not all seals need to have the same shape on a weapon in order to get an attack bonus. As long as at least two seals are the same shape, you will receive a bonus.
Having two pairs of different seals on a weapon can also provide an additional attack bonus.

Most seals, especially the damage-increasing ones, have stronger versions, indicated by a plus sign or two on their seal icon. It's best to use these seals with plus signs if you want more potent effects.
Weapon Upgrade Guide: How to Enhance Weapons

Weapon arts can be unlocked on weapons once they reach level 7 and are enhanced using the specified materials. Weapon arts also function as seals and can resonate with other seals on the weapon if they are the same shape.
It is recommended to have a weapon seal that's the same shape as the weapon art in order to maximize the seal resonance bonus. However, weapon seals for non-unique weapons are random, so you may not be able to find out what the weapon art is until the weapon reaches level 7.
Weapon arts for unique weapons are fixed, so they're easier to plan around. They can be changed in the post-game, but these are the initial weapon arts for each character's unique weapon:

The best seals to attach onto weapons are generally sun-shaped, damage-increasing seals. These seals are useful for the majority of players.
On the other hand, hexagon-shaped, support-oriented seals have more niche uses and are less easy to slap onto weapons. This makes them less ideal weapon seals.
The Regular-Attack Damage and Strong-Attack Damage seals are the best seals to use in general for any weapon. Whether you're a button-masher or someone who attacks with intention, these seals will be helpful to you as regular attacks and strong attacks are the basic, foundational actions of any character.

During most battles, you will likely trigger Flurry Rushes, use unique skills, and perform sync strikes, making Flurry Rush Damage, Unique-Skill Damage, and Sync-Strike Damage seals useful for most characters. However, if you struggle with perfect dodges, Flurry Rush Damage may not be as useful to you.

These B-tier weapon seals can have great potential when used on the right weapons. Charge-Attack Charge Time is only really useful for characters that have charge attacks such as the Knight Construct. Otherwise, it will do nothing.
Special-Attack Damage is useful for players who have the Special-Attack Charge Rate camp effect active or make use of the Bonus Exchange to fill the Special-Attack Gauge. The Special-Attack Gauge tends to fill more slowly compared to the Sync Gauge, so you aren't really able to use special attacks much in battle without using charge buffs.
Damage at Full Hearts and Damage at 30% Hearts or Less are stronger versions of other damage seals, since they increase damage for all attack types. However, their effectiveness will depend on your playstyle and difficulty settings. Those on Easy difficulty may find it easier to maintain full health on their characters, while those on Very Hard difficulty may find it easier to reach and stay at the 30% damage threshold.

Seals that require having 100 KOs to activate are not particularly useful in most challenge missions, since most of them are pretty short and will not have enough enemies to make the most of the bonuses.
These seals can be useful for main story battles, but unless you're putting these on swappable weapons that will specifically be used only for story battles, it would be better to use seals from the higher tiers.
The Special-Attack and Sync-Gauge Charge Rate seals aren't as useful either, since these gauges can be filled using Bonus Vouchers or supplying materials at camps. The Sync-Gauge Charge Rate camp effect becomes available once you've cleared the required Zelda Aside Quest.

These seals aren't used in combat but are still great to have on Zonaite Steel. Enhancement EXP allows your weapon to gain more EXP compared to a regular piece of Zonaite Steel. Zonaite Steel with this seal are ideal to use when trying to level up weapons.
Sell at Higher Prices is a good seal to add onto weapons you're planning to sell. If you're not planning on selling weapons, Zonaite Steel with this seal also sell for more.
| Weapon Art | Best Seal | Details |

Since this weapon art allows you to heal constantly, you are more likely able to maintain full hearts. |
Use Special Attack seals to make the most of the additional Special-Attack Gauge. Special-Attack Damage is the better seal to get if you have other ways to increase charge rate. |
Counters are often done using unique skills. But you can also take advantage of the temporary damage boost by adding even more damage to your regular and strong attacks. |
These seals take advantage of the low health bonuses and allow you to trigger special attacks more frequently. |
Instantly defeating weak enemies allows you to reach 100 KOs quickly. The Regular- and Strong-Attack Damage seals can resonate with this art and are easy to add onto any weapon. |
Regular and strong attacks are used to deplete the Weak-Point Gauge. If you use Zonai Devices to expose the Weak-Point Gauge, the Recharge Energy Gauge Every 100 KOs seal may also be useful. |
Since this weapon art allows you to heal constantly, you are more likely able to maintain full hearts. If you'd prefer to be able to increase the amount you heal, Regular- and Strong-Attack Damage seals are better to have. |
This weapon art can fill your Sync-Strike Gauge and Special-Attack Gauge, making it ideal to have increased damage for these attacks. |
Combo finishers require you to constantly press the regular attack button. You can also do more damage while the Weak-Point Gauge is exposed. |

Combo finishers require you to constantly press the regular attack button. |
Placing status conditions on enemies can allow you to do elemental chains using elemental strong attacks or unique skills. |
Being able to perfect dodge constantly allows you to deal a lot of damage with Flurry Rushes. |
Since Charge-Attack Charge Time is the only square-shaped seal, it is difficult to actually have a seal resonate with square-shaped weapon arts. Most hexagon-shaped seals are also not the best seals to add onto a weapon, so the best seals for hexagon weapon arts won't always resonate.
However, several sun-shaped damage seals synergize well with these different-shaped weapon arts even though they don't resonate.
