Growing Suspicion War Torn Stage After

Finishing Chapter 2: Growing Suspicion opens up the game, including the map's Territory Capture features. Most of the surface will now appear with Red Zones, requiring you to clear Ganondorf's influence in the area to return them under Hyrule's control and continue using the services provided there.

Some Story Battles such as Chapter 2: Striking North, will allow you to clear some parts of the map and even unlock some characters or other gameplay mechanics in the process!

Striking North Walkthrough

Complete Challenge Missions to Liberate Territory

As you progress through the main story, Challenge Missions will pop up that allow you to clear and liberate certain parts of the map.

Take note that not all challenges are able to liberate a territory. You'll know if the challenge will liberate the territory if it's indicated above the Mission's name. These challenges also have a red glow around their icons.

List of All Challenges

Liberating 100% of Territories Require Clearing the Main Story

Clear Out
Certain territories will only be liberated after clearing the main story, so if you find a part of Hyrule that isn't cleared of Ganondorf's influence yet, progress the story more. Once you get to the post-game, you may find clear challenges by then!

Post-Game Guide

Defend Territories Under Attack

Similar to other Musou or Territory Defense games, sometimes, other areas of your map will come under attack and you will have to defend them or lose the territory if you fail or ignore the attack. Make sure to prioritize these defense missions when they appear, since these are time-limited!

A battle countdown will be displayed above the mission name for defense challenges. If you complete the specified number of battles—whether an optional challenge or a story battlewithout taking on the defense mission, the territory will be forfeit as well as the limited-time rewards for the mission. However, you can still get the territory back, since the defense mission will turn into a liberate mission.

Benefits to Liberating Territories

Allows Access to Services in the Map

Weapons Research
Liberating territories allow you to access services and quests in the map that have been locked due to being under Ganondorf's territory. Make sure to prioritize areas that have these services so you can use them as soon as possible!

Losing Territory with Services Will Remove Your Access to Them

Liberate to Regain Services
Be careful not to ignore any Defense challenges as you will lose the territory and the services included in that territory if you let it fall under enemy hands.
