There are a total of 11 Types that each material can fall under in Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment.
You can farm the materials for each type by progressing naturally through the story, completing challenges and battles, defeating enemies, and exploring the battlefield!

Players can use the materials they've gathered through character quest turn-ins. Exchanging your materials to complete this type of quest will allow you to power up your characters, giving them bonus stats and letting them unlock certain skills and basic actions.
