By having Save Data from related titles, you can unlock in-game bonus items in Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment. Read on to learn which games you can link, what items you can receive, and how to claim save data bonuses!
List of Contents

There are two items you can obtain by having save data for related Zelda games in your Nintendo Switch 2 console: the High Guard's Sword and the High Guard's Claymore.
The High Guard's Sword can be claimed if you have save data for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom in your Nintendo Switch 2 system. This is a weapon that can be equipped in the game.
The High Guard's Claymore can be claimed if you have save data for Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity in your Nintendo Switch 2 system. This is a two-handed weapon that can be equipped in the game.
Take not that this item is only available if you have save data for the full Age of Calamity game. Having save data for the demo version will not count.
The save data bonus items are not available immediately upon starting the game. You need to progress a little bit before they can be claimed.
The High Guard's Sword and High Guard's Claymore should be available to claim after completing The Howling Tempests mission and returning to the Hyrule map as long as you have the corresponding save data on your system.
Your save data for Tears of the Kingdom and Age of Calamity must be on the same Nintendo Switch 2 system that you're using to play Age of Imprisonment. If you own multiple Nintendo consoles, make sure your save data for the affected games are all on the same console.

If you played Tears of the Kingdom or Age of Calamity on the original Nintendo Switch and not on your Nintendo Switch 2 console, your save data will not be counted unless you transfer it to your Nintendo Switch 2 system. This can be done through Data Management in the Switch 2 Settings.
If you don't want to transfer your save data onto your Nintendo Switch 2 console but you still want to receive the bonuses for owning the games, you can just start new save files on your Switch 2. Load up the game you own by placing either the virtual game card or physical game card into your Switch 2, then start playing them.
You do not need complete save files in order to receive the bonuses, so playing the involved games even for just a short period of time should be enough.
Is Age of Imprisonment Coming to Switch 1?

The games with confirmed save data bonuses for Age of Imprisonment are The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, which is what the events of Age of Imprisonment is based on, and Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, the Warriors game preceding Age of Imprisonment.
