Yes you can save on the map screen but it’s only available after completing a “mission”. However it can take well over an hour to finish a mission. The developer needed to add checkpoints at regular intervals so you don’t lose significant progress.
We have had the same issue with the game not manually saving. It's frustrating, especially for our boy who usually dies before he has completed the first few quests. We have gone to the map, "-", no save option available....
It’s fcking crazy, you can save while Accessing the system menu (only if you’re on the map) by pressing “-“, but it doesn’t offer the option mid battle, at least not for me so far. So if I wanna rest for a bit and maybe play a different game then I’m screwed cause It won’t save shit unless I finish the whole chapter. Can’t believe they actually though this was a good idea. Exhausting

I figured out you have to get through the first few quests before it offers the manual save option.
Mine doesn't have a save option either. Anybody found a reason for this?
Mine either. Very frustrating. Don’t know what anybody is talking about. Cannot manually save anywhere. I may delete and redownload.

It literally does lol. Just press minus from the map and hit save
System menu does not offer save
