The Type of a Monster will determine what Oil it is weak against. For example, Monsters of the Necrophage Type will receive 10% extra damage from Swords coated in Necrophage oil.

Fighting an Alp is almost the same as fighting a Bruxa. They are both fast, hard to hit, and deal lots of damage with their attacks. The best and easiest way to deal with them is to knock them down with the Aard Sign and instant-kill them.
Normally they will evade automatically when you try to instant-kill them when they are down. In order to do this, you need to lay down a Yrden Sign trap and make sure that you are able to knock them down INSIDE the Yrden Sign trap. The combination of the effects of these two Signs will allow you to instant-kill them when they are down.
Another way to deal with the Alp is to protect yourself with the Quen Sign and lay down a Yrden Sign trap in order to keep up with their incredible speed. Find openings after they finish their combos or after they scream and attack them then.
You should use your Silver Sword and coat it with Vampire oil to deal bonus damage to them. Prepare some Moon Dust Bombs if you are having difficulty tracking them while they are invisible. Also, drink a Black Blood Potion to return some of their damage and incase they bite you.
