Travel to Velen Exit through the marked door, then switch to the World Map and fast travel to Velen. |

Go to the Inn at the Crossroads Head towards the Inn marked on the map and enter. |

Ask About Hendrik at the Inn Talk to the Innkeeper to ask him about Hendrik. After a while, three armed men will arrive. |

During the dialogue with the Baron's men, you will be presented with a timed choice. Your decision here will impact the Bloody Baron quest later.
There are two ways to avoid the fight, with one yielding more information about the baron.
Avoid Fight

| 1 | Choose I'm a Witcher Select the dialogue option [I'm a Witcher] to completely avoid a violent confrontation against the baron's men. They will immdediately back down and let Geralt be. |
| 2 | Choose Care for a Drink Select the dialogue option [Care for a Drink] if you want to get more information about the baron. However, you must choose the following dialogue sequence, or else it will lead to a brawl. ① Care for a drink? ② Heading to Novigrad. ③ Who are you? ④ Like to know who I'm drinking with. ⑤ Who's this baron? ⑥Cheers, then. |
Note: Avoiding a fight against the baron's men will allow you to choose the peaceful method in the Bloody Baron quest.
Defeat Baron's Men
Choosing the option to say [Back Off or Die] will initiate a fight with the 3 bandits. After the fight, the innkeeper will let you leave through the back.
If you go back out and exit through the front, there will be 3 more bandits who will attack you. Killing the baron's men at the inn will lock you out of the peaceful method in the Bloody Baron quest.

Finish Talking to the Innkeep About Hendrik Afterward, no matter your choice, walk up to the innkeeper and talk to him again. He will tell you that Hendrik is located in Heatherton. |

Look for Hendrik in Heatherton Leave the inn and head west toward the village. |

 Talk to the Survivor Upon arriving at Heatherton, you will see a man fighting off 3 rabid dogs. Kill the dogs. The rabid dogs can dodge fairly quickly, so use fast attacks against them. |

| 1 |  Find the Agent Called Hendrik After your conversation with the villager, enter the marked hut. Examine the dead body. You can choose all the options, but checking his boots will let you immediately progress the story. |

 Search the Agent's Hunt Examine the rug in the next room to reveal a trapdoor. Next, open the trapdoor and go down the ladder. |

 Use your Witcher Senses and examine the only lit candle on the wall to open a hidden chest. |
| 4 |
 Examine the opened chest and exhaust all the dialogue until you can select the yellow option to complete the quest. |

How to Avoid a Fight in the Inn at the Crossroads
Choose I'm a Witcher
Telling the bandits you're a Witcher will make them scared and immediately back off. This will make the innkeep grateful and invite you for a talk at the back.
Choosing the option to say Back off or die will absolutely result to a fight.
Choose Care for a Drink Correct Sequence
You can avoid the fight against the Baron's men by choosing the right dialogue choices after selecting the Care for a Drink option. If you choose the options Not your concern or Wonder what you're doing here, it will start a fight.
