Strategy
The spineglider will create footholds for itself so it can swoop down to attack. If you can destroy those footholds while it's climbing, you can throw it off balance and bring it crashing down ready for you to attack. When angered, the kemono's tail swells up for a particularly grim attack, but at the same time, the swollen tail is weak and vulnerable to attack, which offers you a chance to strike.

How to Beat Spineglider

Spineglider Tips and Strategies

Target the Spineglider's Body and Tail

Wild Hearts - Target the Spineglider
The Spineglider's weakest part is its body, so prioritize dealing damage to this area as often as possible, especially after knocking it down. We also recommend targeting its tail when enraged, as it becomes more vulnerable to damage while in this state.

Stay Mobile During the Fight

Wild Hearts - Stay Mobile During the Fight (Spineglider)
The Spineglider is a distinctly agile kemono, having plenty of fast moves and follow-up attacks. We recommend sticking to quick attacks while staying mobile throughout the fight and only using slow moves and long combos during large openings.

Break the Spineglider's Footholds

Wild Hearts - Break the Spineglider
The Spineglider has a special attack where it projects fluids out of its tail to conjure stone spires, which it can use as footholds to launch heavy-hitting moves from above. We recommend breaking these footholds as soon as possible to prevent the Spineglider from taking advantage of them.

In addition, breaking these stone spires as the Spineglider climbs them staggers the kemono momentarily, leaving it open to easy damage.

Utilize the Torch and Pounder Karakuri

Wild Hearts - Utilize the Torch and Pounder Karakuri
When hunting the Spineglider, we recommend heavy usage of the Torch and Pounder Karakuri.

  • The Torch Karakuri imbues your weapons with Fire, one of the Spineglider's elemental weaknesses, making it easier to deal with the kemono.
  • The Pounder Karakuri, created by stacking three Spring Karakuri, instantly destroys the Spineglider's footholds while dealing heavy damage on hit.

Spineglider Attacks and Moves

Name Description
Horn Tackle The Spineglider lowers its head before quickly tackling the hunter with its horn.
Jumping Stone Launch The Spineglider leaps in the air before tossing two stone projectiles toward the hunter.
Tail Attacks The Spineglider whips its large tail around during combat to send hunters flying.
Foothold Creation The Spineglider fills up its tail with fluid before releasing it to create a stone spire it can use as a foothold during combat.
Stone Foothold Attacks The Spineglider can launch off its stone footholds to land a variety of deadly attacks.
Furious Stone Quake When the Spineglider becomes enraged, it releases a jet of fluid and causes a ring of stone spires to erupt around it.
Expanded Tail Bounce While enraged, the Spineglider can fill its tail with fluid and bounce around on top of it to crush the hunter beneath its heavy weight.

Horn Tackle

Horn Tackle Attack Information
Horn Tackle: The Spineglider lowers its head before quickly tackling the hunter with its horn, dealing light damage on hit. This move has a subtle tell and comes out quite fast, so stay alert whenever it occurs and quickly evade sideways to avoid getting hit.

Jumping Stone Launch

Jumping Stone Launch Attack Information
Jumping Stone Launch: The Spineglider leaps in the air before tossing two stone projectiles toward the hunter, dealing moderate damage on hit. Take note of this attack's unique windup and evade sideways just as each stone flies to avoid getting hit.

Mighty Spinegilder may do this attack two consecutive times.

Tail Attacks

Tail Attack Variations
Tail Sweep: The Spineglider positions its tail to one side before rapidly sweeping it around, knocking nearby hunters away and dealing moderate damage. This move can come out quite quickly, so keep an eye on the Spineglider's tail and evade away from its body when it occurs.

While enraged, the Spineglider can follow this attack with a heavy tail slam, so stay alert for this follow-up whenever it occurs.
Leaping Tail Spin: The Spineglider twists its body to one side before leaping through the air, forcefully spinning around four times to hit the hunter with its tail. To deal with this attack, you should watch for when the kemono twists its body before dodging past each tailspin to avoid getting hurt.

Foothold Creation

Foothold Creation Attack Information
Foothold Creation: The Spineglider fills up its tail with fluid before releasing it to create a stone spire it can use as a foothold during combat. To deal with this attack, dodge sideways out of the liquid stream's path and deal as much damage to the Spineglider while it finishes building its foothold.

Stone Foothold Attacks

Stone Foothold Attack Variations
Foothold Body Tackle: The Spineglider can launch off one of its stone footholds to glide toward the hunter and slam its body on top of them, dealing moderate damage on hit. To deal with this attack, evade sideways right before the kemono hits you to avoid getting hurt.
Foothold Tail Slam: The Spineglider can launch off one of its footholds to slam its massive tail on unsuspecting hunters, dealing heavy damage on hit. Quickly sideways out of the tail's impact zone to avoid getting hurt by this attack.
Foothold Tail Spin: The Spineglider can jump off one of its stone footholds to perform an extended Leaping Tail Spin while moving toward the hunter. Sprint and dodge away from the kemono's trajectory or quickly reposition using a Spring Karakuri to deal with this attack.

Furious Stone Quake

Furious Stone Quake Attack Information
Furious Stone Quake: When the Spineglider becomes enraged, it releases a jet of fluid and causes a ring of stone spires to erupt around it, dealing moderate damage and knocking hunters back. Quickly evade backward or use a Spring Karakuri to reposition away from the kemono while it performs this attack.

Expanded Tail Bounce

Expanded Tail Bounce Attack Information
Expanded Tail Bounce: While enraged, the Spineglider can fill its tail with fluid, transforming it into a massive ball-like shape. The kemono then begins bouncing on its tail numerous times while moving toward the hunter, attempting to crush them beneath it.

This attack can cover plenty of distance and deals massive damage on hit, so we recommend using a Spring Karakuri or evading away from each bounce right before it lands to avoid getting hit.
