Strategy
You'll barely have time to breathe during the dreadclaw's relentless onslought, and once it lands an attack, you'll have your back to the wall. However, it usually charges with all its might from dead ahead, so if you watch closely, you'll have a good chance of dodging. It's especially prone to losing its balance after a volley of kicks, so take the opportunity to strike and deal damage while you can.

How to Beat Dreadclaw

Dreadclaw Tips and Strategies

Target its Head and Throat

The softest body part of a Dreadclaw is its head and throat. Constantly targeting these parts deal a good amount of damage on the Dreadclaw and it severs some of its parts as well.

Equip a Fire-based and Slash-type Weapon

A Dreadclaw is extremely weak against fire attacks and ailments, as well as slash attacks. Equipping these weapon types makes part breaking easy and ultimately makes the hunt easier.

Use Bulwark, Torch, and Firework Karakuri

Three must-have Karakuri in this hunt are the Bulwark, Torch, and Firework Karakuri.

  • With Dreadclaw's numerous charging and diving attacks, the Bulwark Karakuri is best used to counter these attacks and stagger the Dreadclaw.
  • The Torch Karakuri provides additional Fire damage and Ablaze build-up while fighting the Dreadclaw. It can also be used as a platform for performing fiery jump attacks.
  • The Firework Karakuri can knock the Dreadclaw out of the air while it flies, providing hunters with a long opening for easy damage.

Never Dodge Backwards

Most of Dreadclaw's attacks move forward and are consecutive, dodging backwards will only put you in a position for a follow up attack. For this hunt, dodging towards Dreadclaw is highly recommended.
