How to Beat Sporetail

Sporetail Tips and Strategies

Target Its Head

A Sporetail's head is the weakest part on its body, targeting this area has a high chance of staggering the Sporetail leaving it open for more attacks.

Equip Fire-Based Weapons

Sporetails are extremely weak against Fire due to their Wood attribute. Exploiting this elemental advantage makes the hunt much smoother.

Utilize Bulwark and Star Bomb Karakuri

Although a Sporetail's moveset is similar to the Ragetail's, its attacks can no longer be blocked by crate karakuris. Use a bulwark karakuri instead to ensure blocks and staggers against a Sporetail.

The Star Bomb Karakuri is also extremely useful for this fight, as it deals high damage to the Sporetail and instantly kills any Sporetail Pups nearby.

Exploit Attack Intervals

After every attack, the Sporetail will have an idle moment giving you a window to land free hits without worrying about getting hit. We highly recommend using jump attacks from bulwarks to maximize this damage opportunity.

Attack Sporetail Pups

The most challenging aspect of the hunt will be the Sporetail Pups. These small kemono help out their parent during the fight by lunging at you, and throwing or releasing fatigue-causing smoke which causes you to fall asleep and making you open for attacks.

You can use a Star Bomb Karakuri to clear the pups, or attack them with your weapon to fill you weapon gauge.

Sporetail Pup Command:When enraged, Sporetail will scream, commanding its pups to be more aggressive. The pups can now burrow and lunge up from under your position and throw smoke bombs that cause fatigue.
