How to Upgrade the Tsukumo |
---|
|
Before you can start upgrading your Tsukumo, you will need to find others of its kind scattered throughout each region of Azuma. Once located, befriend them to receive Old Cogs which are used to upgrade your companion.
If you're having a hard time finding Tsukumo, you can opt to purchase the upgrade for your Hunting Tower called the Hunting Tower: Deep Probe. This allows you to scan the map for collectibles by simply building and using a Hunting Tower.
Once a Hunting Tower is activated, Tsukumo, Documents, and Relic Talismans will start appearing on your detailed map as question marks (?). However, do note that the scan will be limited to the AoE (blue circle) conjured by the Hunting Tower.
To upgrade your Tsukumo, rest at a Campfire dragon karakuri and select the option to Enhance Tsukumo. As your Tsukumo increases in level, so does the cost to upgrade it. The max level for each of the Tsukumo forms will be Level 10.
Assist (★★★) |
Comes with a Healing Mist skill that the Tsukumo deploys when you're on low HP. Decreases the revival time of Tsukumo when it gets knocked out. |
---|---|
Threader (★★★) |
Boosts your thread recharge speed. Greatly helps during lategame fights where you spend a lot of threads for fusion karakuri. |
Defense (★★) |
Each level increases its health and defense, allowing it to tank for a longer period of time when the player is incapacitated during a hunt. |
Attack (★) |
Increases the attack damage of the Tsukumo. Not particularly useful due to how little utility this offers on solo hunts. |
The upgrade screen will present players with 4 types of Tsukumo forms that you can choose from. It is recommended that players upgrade the Assist and Threader Forms first as these give the most utility out of the 4. Defense comes after in priority, with the Attack form being the least useful of the 4.
Players who want to reset their purchased upgrades for the Tsukumo can do so via the Campfire. Select the option to Reset from the Enhance Tsukumo screen and spend Kemono Orbs to return your Tsukumo back to its base form.
Tsukumo Upgrade Rewards |
---|
|
Upgrading your Tsukumo will increase the maximum capacity of your karakuri thread at certain intervals of the upgrade process. This is by far the best benefit to upgrading your Tsukumo outside of the different advantages offered by its various forms. At max level, you will get a max cap of 24 karakuri threads for your hunter.
How to Get Max Karakuri Threads
Upgrading your Tsukumo also allows it to perform a lot of support roles during combat. When stunned or on low HP, it can deploy a healing mist while also taking the aggro off the incapacitated player. When running low on karakuri thread, it can deploy some for you to pickup and replenish your arsenal.
Finally, maxing out your Tsukumo's level will also give you a free head ornament for your hunter. It can be equipped via the Forge or by talking to Natsume in Minato and changing your equipment.
To unlock the Tsukumo companion, players will need to find and befriend at least 1 Tsukumo when they first start the game. Explore Harugasumi Way to find one and unlock it by talking to Natsume before resting at a Campfire.
