Strategy
The emberplume has a plethora of different long-range attacks, so keep it close and the hunt should go more smoothly. You'll want to prioritize taking out the tail as it's used in a number of attacks, but be careful of the bird's backwards leaps accompanied by an explosive charge. When angered, the kemono's entire body rages with fire, and the flames it unleashes become much more powerful.

How to Beat Emberplume

Emberplume Tips and Strategies

Avoid Using Wood and Fire-Based Weapons

Wild Hearts - Avoid Using Wood and Fire-Based Weapons
The Wood and Fire attributes are not effective against the Emberplume, so we recommend avoiding using weapons with these elements.

If your primary weapon currently wields one of these elements, consider rolling it back and upgrading to a node with Water, Earth, Wind, or no elemental attributes instead.

Wear Fire-Resistant Armor

The Emberplume has several hard-hitting Fire-based attacks that can quickly build up the Ablaze status. We highly recommend investing in a solid Fire-resistant armor set, like the Sable Mara Set, to improve your survivability when fighting this kemono.

Aim for the Emberplume's Head and Tail

Wild Hearts - Aim for the Emberplume
The Emberplume's weakest part is its head, so prioritize dealing damage to this area as often as possible, especially after knocking it down. If staying near the front of the Emberplume is too risky, we recommend aiming for its tail, as breaking this part makes some of its moves less effective.

Play Patiently Against the Emberplume

Wild Hearts - Play Patiently Against the Emberplume
Each of the Emberplume's moves can easily take out careless hunters in two to three hits, especially since the kemono can also apply the Ablaze status with its fiery attacks.

Instead of playing aggressively, we recommend watching for its telegraphed attacks and counterattacking during its openings to avoid taking unnecessary damage during the fight.

Close the Gap with Spring Karakuri

Wild Hearts - Close the Gap with Spring Karakuri
The Emberplume often repositions away from the hunter to land its fiery beams and projectiles. We recommend heavily using Spring Karakuri when fighting this kemono to give yourself plenty of maneuverability and ways to close the gap toward them.

Utilize the Repeater Crossbow Karakuri

Wild Hearts - Utilize the Repeater Crossbow Karakuri (Emberplume)
When the Emberplume flies into the air, use the Repeater Crossbow Karakuri to knock it down and leave it open for easy damage. We prefer using this Fusion Karakuri over the Harpoon Karakuri as it costs less Karakuri Thread and can interrupt most of the kemono's charged attacks.

Take Advantage of Natural Cover

Wild Hearts - Take Advantage of Natural Cover
When the Emberplume sends fiery projectiles toward you, remember that you can use natural cover, like stone pillars, to shield yourself from the flames. This tip is particularly useful when you're low on Karakuri Thread or saving resources for a Fusion Karakuri.
