Strategy
It's vital to judge your prey's attack range and evasive action so you can strike back with well-placed counters in the brief time afterwards, when the kemono leaves itself open to attack. Maintain your distance carefully. When it's angered, the kemono's tail will swell to a much greater size, enhancing its range and power, so it may pay to circle behind and attempt to sever the tail.

How to Beat Ragetail

Ragetail Tips

Exploit Attack Intervals

After every attack, the Ragetail will have an idle moment giving you a window to land free hits without worrying about getting hit. We highly recommend using jump attacks from crates to maximize this damage opportunity.

Utilize Karakuri Crates

Crate Jump Attacks deal massive damage to the Ragetail and have a high chance of staggering them, allowing you to unleash a barrage of combos on its soft parts.

Additionally, you can use the Karakuri Crate to block Ragetail's light attacks like its Claw Strikes or Tail Swipess.

Destroy the Tail Plum

Targeting the tail of the Ragetail does not sever its tail but instead creates a crevice on the Plum at the end of the tail. This fills your weapon gauge allowing you to easily charge enhanced attacks.

Ragetail Attacks and Moves

Name Description
Claw-based Attacks Ragetail uses its claws for quick strikes to keep the hunters away. This attack has two variations.
Tail Based Attacks Using the Plum at the end of its tail as a blunt weapon, Ragetail uses its tail to damage a large area. This attack has multiple variations.
Lunging Body Slam A slow attack that covers a wide area of effect.
Charge Attack An attack that can drag hunters on the Ragetail's path, continuously damaging them.
Enraged State Attacks A Ragetail's enraged state comes with unique and more dangerous attack patterns that make the fight harder as it nears an end.

Claw-based Attacks

Claw Strike Variations
Quick Claw Strike: Ragetail will quickly claw you when you are in front of it. Although this attack deals less damage, it can be hard to notice as it hardly has any indicators.
Lunging Claw Strike: When Ragetail wobbles its head, it will lunge at a short distance to attack with its claw. Avoid this attack by dodging to the left or right.

Tail-based Attacks

Tail Attack Variations
Tail Slam:If Ragetail lifts the rest of its body using its forelegs, it will slam its tail behind. Avoid this attack by dodging sideways.
Tail Swipe: Ragetail will do a quick swipe in one direction without indication. You can avoid this attack by dodging backward, or setting up a Karakuri Crate.
Extended Tail Swipe:When Ragetail briefly stands on its hind legs, it will swipe its tail in a circular motion. Avoid this attack by dodging backward.

Lunging Body Slam

Lunging Body Slam Attack Information
Lunging Body Slam: Ragetail will lunge forward and use its entire body to crush a wide area. We recommend sliding away from this attack as the Ragetail lets it body fall.

Charge Attack

Charge Attack Information
Charge Attack:If Ragetail creates a distance from you and wags its tail, it will Charge at you. You can dodge sideways to avoid damage or set Karakuri Crates in its charge path to briefly stagger the Ragetail.

Enraged State Attacks

Enraged Ragetail Attack Information
Tree Summon:As Ragetail enters an enraged state, it will summon a tree with the roots surrounding itself. Although this move does not damage you it is an obstruction during the fight.
Enraged Body Slam:When enraged, Ragetail will stand on its Tail Plum, then proceed to do a flip ending in a body slam with a wider range and increased damage.

You can avoid this attack by sliding away as Ragetail is airborne.
