Borderlands 4 Overview
Borderlands 4 is the upcoming entry in Gearbox Software’s acclaimed looter-shooter series. Scheduled for release in 2025 for the PC (Steam), PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2, it takes place shortly after the conclusion of Borderlands 3. Early teasers hint at a new planetary setting beyond Pandora, the world all three Borderlands games and even Tales of the Borderlands takes place in, with the potential for expanded lore involving the Great Vault and the Firehawks.
Borderlands 4 aims to enhance the franchise's signature looter-shooter gameplay. Players will take on the role of a Vault Hunter, battling waves of enemies while searching for valuable loot and treasures. More details, including gameplay showcases, are scheduled to be unveiled at The Game Awards 2024.

Borderlands 4 Gameplay
Borderlands 4 brings back the series' signature run-and-gun mayhem, ramping up the action with a new team of Vault Hunters and an even larger interplanetary adventure.
While details on the playable characters remain scarce, the reveal trailers showcase a Siren, a barbarian-like fighter with a robotic arm, an assassin wielding dual arm blades, and another female character whose abilities have yet to be revealed.
Gunplay stays true to the franchise’s fast-paced chaos but expands in scale, featuring a broader selection of planets and locations to explore—surpassing even Borderlands 3. Familiar faces return, offering missions and alliances along the way.
