Hippokampos is located at Erana Ruins, further north of the flooded farmlands. You will approach a ruin with a statue in the middle that will talk to you.

We recommend the following builds to take down Hippokampos quickly. The Cold Whirlwind build is solid for all content, including bosses due to its constant ability to deal good damage thanks to Sweeping Strike's Whirlwind mod, alllowing you to be safe on Hippokampos' side while spinning.

Alternatively, you can use the fast Poison effect stacking of our Reaver build with daggers and the Trick Shot skill, dealing good single-target damage while also maintaining good mobility with Vanish.

Dodge the Water Explosion Combo

Water Spout
Hippokampos has a Huge Water Explosion move that can be fatal especially at lower levels. To avoid this, wait for the boss to raise its two feet up and neigh, this will be your tell before the boss commits to a water spout that is followed by area-wide water waves. Make some distance when Hippokampos starts doing this to safely avoid it.

Attack the Boss on Their Sides

Attack on the Sides
The boss has a particular blind side where most of their attacks don't hit. Take advantage of this and strike beside the boss instead on the front and back where they have several attacks that can hit you.

Focus on the Boss' Ranged Attacks

Beam Dodge
The boss has several ranged attacks that you will need to look at as they deal the most damage against you. This might also be a problem with ranged users as most of their kit is designed to punish players keeping a constant distance.

Prepare a build that focuses on getting close with the boss while also upgrading your survivability by stacking up resistance upgrades, armor upgrades or health upgrades.

Moves Details and Tips
Crab Mob Spawn		 Hippokampos spawns several crab mobs to swarm the player. Use AoE skills such as Ice Nova, Earthquake or Sweeping Strike to damage multiple enemies at once.
Ice Spikes		 Releases ice spikes on a wide arc against the player. Make distance from Hippokampos when he neighs to avoid most of the spikes. The spikes have a wide angle of attack with less projectiles hitting the farther the character is.
Water Beam		 Launches a long water beam at the player. Go behind Hippokampos when he neighs to avoid their Water Beam attack. This is one of their powerful moves so prepare your Barrier or keep your Dashes active to sprint behind the boss.
Area-Wide Water Smash		 Hippokampos' most damaging move, where it leaps and unleashes a water spout at the player, followed by water waves. Use your Barrier or Dash to tank or get out of the attack, then keep a safe distance from Hippokampos until the splashes end.
Lightning Tail		 Immediately after a Water Beam, a tail attack with a lightning bolt strikes at the player. When going behind the boss, do not approach the direct end of their tail and go to the side of it instead.
Hoof Strikes		 The boss does 2 hoof combos at the player when they come close. Go behind the boss to manipulate them into delaying the attack as they will face you just to have the hoof strike hit.
Tail Swipe		 Quick lightning tail swipe with a near 360-degree arc. When you see the boss and their tail light up, immediately dash away from the boss to properly dodge it.

Hippokampos is best fought at a higher level than usual as it is more difficult than even the main bosses of the game. We recommend fighting the boss at Level 18 while upgrading your elemental resistances.
