Winter Tropon is best known for her passive ability that gives her up to a 30% chance to steal her opponents' buffs with every attack, similar to Nina's key ability with the same effect. She can also steal an opponent's ATK and DEF stats for herself, while also having up to a 20% chance to inflict Fainted on all 5 opponents she's facing. Finally, she also benefits from a shield whenever she uses her ATK and DEF drain, as well as having self-buffs of 20% bonus max HP and up to 40% chance to inflict debuffs.

Holy Night's Prayer

Miracle Stars

Winter Tropon's Holy Night's Prayer skill is a passive ability that gives her up to a 30% chance to dispel an opponent's buff and use it for herself, similar to how Nina steals her opponents' buffs. This makes Winter Tropon a fine counter to units like Amleth and Dian whose kits are centered around a key passive ability. If you find that an opposing Winter Tropon keeps stealing your key buffs, consider changing things up and replacing your key units.

Buffs aren't the only thing Winter Tropon can steal, as her Miracle Stars allows Winter Tropon to drain the ATK and DEF of the enemy with the highest remaining HP by 15% for 2 turns. While this is a pretty good effect, its flaw lies in its targeting, as the chances of it targeting a low-priority unit is quite high. This skill also deals only 15% of the target's current HP, which often does not amount to much at all.

Illusion!

White Lie

Tropon can potentially inflict [Fainted] on all 5 of her opponents, and she has pretty good chances of doing that too at 20% when this skill has reached its max level. This synergizes perfectly with her other passive, White Lie, which increases her max HP and chance to inflict a debuff by up to 40% each. Additionally, the max HP buff from this passive, alongside the DEF she's stolen and the shield she gets, make her quite tough to take down.

Fainted can be avoided by units with good resistances to debuffs, like Primavera, or high evasion units like Nina. To get through her high DEF and HP, stocking up on DEF Break runes or using witches with built-in DEF Break like Cordie should do the trick.

［Holy Night's Prayer］Tropon Hard Counters

Cordie

Cordie is the best unit to have against Winter Tropon as she has an answer for everything in Winter Tropon's kit. Cordie is immune to debuffs, which renders the ATK and DEF drain as well as the [Fainted] debuff useless. As for her offense, she has loads of DEF Break and damage that can easily take out Winter Tropon.

Primavera

Primavera deals good damage exceptional damage for a support unit, and can outdamage Winter Tropon all day. She's immune to debuffs at Lv 221, and she can inflict [Fainted] on Winter Tropon to give her a taste of her own medicine. Sure, Winter Tropon can steal Primavera's ATK and SPD buff, but that's not really something Primavera needs to succeed, nor is it something that benefits Winter Tropon that much.

Cerberus

Cerberus is a witch who can do big damage even without buffs, and she can keep herself safe from debuffs too with her self-cleansing abilities. The two main things that make Winter Tropon dangerous is how she steals buffs and inflicts [Fainted]. As long as Cerberus can cleanse that [Fainted] status effect, she wouldn't have much trouble with Winter Tropon.

With this team's damage potential, Winter Tropon's DEF drain and HP self-buff won't really matter. Cordie and Florence enjoy buffed attacks thanks to Primavera and Merlyn. Primavera can inflict [Fainted] on opponents, which is one of the strongest debuffs in the game. Merlyn protects the carries from debuffs, and Nina can tank for her team while hurling back debuffs and stealing buffs herself. A fine lineup that can be used in lots of different lineups.

Winter Tropon may be able to steal some of the buffs from this team, but that won't matter much thanks to Cordie being arguably the hardest counter to Winter Tropon.

Early to Mid Game Debuff Hurler Team

In this setup, Nina's in charge of debuffing enemies (by dispelling their debuffs and hurling them back), as well as tanking hits (by either dodging them or cutting their damage). Cordie and Mertillier have strong debuff resistances, or complete immunity even, if they've reached the highest skill levels. These two units don't have to worry about getting Fainted at all. Finally, Merlyn and Olivia grant the team helpful buffs, but even if they're stolen by Winter Tropon it wouldn't matter much. A similar composition to the first sample team that sacrifices Florence's damage output for more utility. This team may be easier to field in the early and mid game when you don't have Florence yet and are only investing in 1 carry.

Witches Not To Use Against ［Holy Night's Prayer］Tropon

Amleth

Amleth relies on her [Invincibility] self-buff to keep herself from dying for a couple of rounds, being completely immune to damage while dealing enhanced heavy attacks thanks to the ATK buffs she receives when she's at low health. Tropon can potentially stel her [Invincibility] buff right after it activates, killing Amleth in the process while avoiding all that big damage you would've taken had she not died. This also makes Tropon much tankier as she becomes immune to damage for a couple of rounds, possibly buying her enough time to recast her skills.

Dian

Similar to Amleth, the primary reason Dian earns a spot on most teams is because of the Evasion buffs she grants herself and her carry. These can be stolen as early as round 1 by Tropon, and if not, it's only a matter of time until she does. This will not only leave Dian and her carry defenseless, but will also make Winter Tropon that much harder to deal with, as you'll have to go through her Evasion first, before her hefty HP and DEF load.

Merlyn

Although not as badly countered as the first two, Merlyn has one of the most potent buffs that crit-based attackers love to have. If a carry relies on Merlyn's buffs to succeed, they might struggle with Winter Tropon taking it away.

Tips for Beating ［Holy Night's Prayer］Tropon

Use Debuff Immune or High Debuff RES Characters

Characters like Cordie and Primavera can shrug off Tropon's debuffs like it's nothing, minimizing her debuffing capabilities and essentially turning her into a low impact semi-durable meat shield.

Use DEF Break

In cases where Winter Tropon steals DEF from a high DEF opponent, she'll be fairly hard to deal with without DEF Break. Luckily, DEF Break is often advised as the only rune to buy with your Rune Tickets, especially from the early to early-late game. Characters like Cordie and Rusalka also have some DEF Break built into their kit.

Don't Bring Witches That Rely On Key Buffs

We've mentioned it multiple times in this page, but do not bring characters like Amleth and Dian, as their strength lies in their key buffs, and they're extremely weak to opponents who can dispel their buffs, let alone steal it like how Winter Tropon can.
