Moddey is a debuffer who thrives on poisoning her foes as well as inflicting [Blight] on them, which makes them take a percentage of their health as damage every turn while foiling any attempts to heal back damage. If she crits, she'll also dispel a buff from that target. Moddey likes long and drawn out fights to allow her poison to do its thing. To help her with this, she regenerates back 10% of her max HP every turn, while constantly countering enemies for 200% of her ATK. Finally, she deals decent damage herself with her ATK and CRIT chance self-buffs.

Call the Reaper

Moddey's best known for these two abilities. The first of which poisons all 5 opponents and dispels a buff from the targets if the attack crits. This poison takes a small percentage of the target's current HP every turn. The Call the Reaper ability on the other hand, hits 3 opponents with magical attacks and inflicts Blight on them if they're poisoned, preventing them from healing. This Blight ability is strong against units that rely on healing, like Yuni.

While these abilities can be rather effective in the battlefield when left unchecked, it's easy to get rid of them. All you'll really need to counter this are some witches who can cleanse debuffs from themselves or their allies.

Prayer of Mourning

Prayer of Mourning allows Moddey to heal back 10% of her HP every round, as well as grants her [Counter Shift] for 3 turns, which strikes for 200% of her ATK each time she is attacked and cannot be dispelled.

The counter can potentially hurt some multi-hit attackers like Florence. However, the issue with Moddey's survivability is how her only defensive ability is a 10% heal each round. There's no evasion, DEF buffs, damage reduction, or shields. Because of this, Moddey isn't too hard to take down.

Nina

Nina is often a debuffer's worst matchup and Moddey is no exception. She can hurl back debuffs inflicted on her while stealing buffs from opponents. Nina can't steal Moddey's self-buffs, but she can negate Moddey's regeneration by reflecting back her [Blight] debuff.

Primavera

Primavera is a fast support unit who can inflict fainted on an opponent directly in front of her. Because of that, she can immobilize Moddey before Moddey can do anything, and possibly set her up to die within the first round or two.

Cordie

Florence

Moddey is prone to getting killed by high burst damage, even with her [Counter Shift] and her regenerative abilities. Characters like Cordie and Florence can make quick work of her, even if they take some damage from Moddey's counter attacks.

With this team's damage potential, Moddey can be wiped out as early as round 1, before she can even inflict [Poison] or [Blight]. Cordie and Florence enjoy buffed attacks thanks to Primavera and Merlyn. Primavera can inflict [Fainted] on opponents, which is one of the strongest debuffs in the game. Fenrir and Merlyn protect the other units from debuffs, and Fenrir will reduce Florence and Primavera's cooldowns, allowing them to recast their key skills earlier. A fine lineup that can be used in lots of different lineups.

A more defensive lineup compared to the first team, this team sacrifices Florence's damage with Nina's utility and evasion. Cordie can shred defenses with her Unique Weapon, but can still deal big damage without it. Merlyn buffs both Cordie and Nina, as well as dispels debuffs. Nina protects the carry from damage by granting them evasion, while Primavera does her thing and boosts the entire team's ATK and SPD, while inflicting [Fainted] on opponents.

Witches Not To Use Against Moddey

Fia

Fia and other characters who rely on healing may have trouble dealing with Moddey's [Blight], as this prevents them from regenerating lost HP. However, if your team relies on healing, you don't need to worry too much, as all you really need to do is dispel the [Blight].

Amleth

Amleth's achilles heel is how she's susceptible to getting her [Invulnerable] buff dispelled, preventing her from performing that last stand she's known for. Moddey is among the witches who can do this, so be careful if your team relies on Amleth's invulnerability to win.

Tips for Beating Moddey

Dispel Her Debuffs

It's not too hard to deal with Moddey, unless your team relies on healing and you don't have any cleansing abilities to get rid of [Blight]. When facing Moddey, make sure you bring a debuff cleanser or two.

Take Her Down Quickly

Moddey does not have any resistances, shields, or DEF buffs. She has a heal, but it won't be enough to stop high damage bursts from the game's top DPS units. Take her down before she can inflict her debuffs.

Use Action-Hindering Debuffs

An easy solution to a lot of the game's units, inflicting action-hindering debuffs like [Fainted] and [Sleep] can prevent Moddey from moving at all. Use these if you struggle against Moddey.
