Earn XP by Killing Zombies
Research Augment progress is tied to your in-game XP. Simply play Zombies to earn XP, level up, and your Augment research will progress automatically as you kill zombies.
Activate Rampage Inducer to Earn XP Fast
You can earn XP fast by activating the Rampage Inducer in the spawn area. This will make zombies spawn much faster, letting you speed through rounds and farm a lot of XP. It doesn’t increase XP per kill, but the increased spawn rate lets you earn XP much faster overall.
Exfil to Gain Bonus XP
Starting at Round 11 and every 5 rounds after (Rounds 16, 21, 26, and so on), you can interact with the phone booth to attempt an Exil and escape the map. Exfils grant bonus XP, which should speed up the research time for your Augments.
Use Double XP Tokens for More XP
You can also use Double XP Tokens and just play a Zombies match normally. Double XP Tokens double the XP you earn, speeding up your research Augment progress.
Double XP Tokens can be obtained through the Battle Pass, events and promotions, or by purchasing Store Bundles.
Reach Player Level 11
You must first reach Player Level 11 to begin researching Augments. Once unlocked, open the Research Augments menu and select the Perk, Ammo Mod, or Field Upgrade you want to research.
Researched Augments Carry Over from Black Ops 6
Augment research from Black Ops 6 carries over to Black Ops 7. All completed Augment unlocks for returning Perks, Ammo Mods, and Field Upgrades remain accessible in Black Ops 7 Zombies.

・Probiotic (Major) Increases Armor durability. ・Durable Plates (Minor) Boosts the maximum health given to 150. |
| 5th |  Healing Aura |
・Persistence (Major) Keeps all the Perks of revived survivors. ・Protection (Minor) Healed players have damage mitigated for a short time. |
| 6th |  Aether Shroud |
・Group Shroud (Major) Cloaks nearby teammates. ・Extension (Minor) Cloaking duration is significantly increased. |
The first three steps prioritize solo gameplay and self-sustainability by focusing on health Perks like Quick Revive and Juggernog, with the Energy Mine acting as your strong offense against large groups of zombies.
The later steps then shift toward squad support, prioritizing augments that improve your team's survivability. The Aether Shroud, in particular, is useful during intense rounds for reviving teammates and repairing Ol' Tessie safely.
Ammo Mods are not a priority, but you can research any Augment that you want once key Augments in Aether Shroud are unlocked.
