You can buy perks from Perk-a-Cola machines found around the map starting at 2500 Essence, with the price of a perk increasing as you buy more. It can increase up to 3500 Essence.
Each perk has its respective Perk-a-Cola vending machine. Once you buy a perk-a-cola, it is instantly used and the perk icon appears at the bottom part of the screen. You can only buy a perk once, and turning on the power is required before using the machine.
Perks can be lost once you are downed by an enemy. However, this can be countered by equipping certain Gobblegums.

All Perks can also be purchased in one place from a Der Wunderfizz machine. The Der Wunderfizz machine spawns automatically at Round 25 or in the round after you've purchased 4 perks.
If you had purchased no Perks previously, your first Perk will cost 2500 Essence, and the price will increase by 500 Essence with each subsequent Perk equipped (3000, 3500, 4000, and so on). Perks you obtain for free don't increase the cost of the Perks for sale.

Zombies Perks gives a boost to your stats and weapons, as well as unique effects. Purchasing perks are advantageous and can be a key to survive longer. Perks like the Jugger-Nog that increases maximum health, or Stamin-Up that increases movement speed can be useful in early game to get through tough situations.
Be warned that a perk can be lost once you are downed by an enemy. This can be countered by equipping certain Gobblegums—such as an Aftertaste Rare Gobblegum which keeps your perks after revival, or if your teammate has a Phoenix Up Legendary Gobblegum they'll be able to revive you with your perks intact.
You can get Permanent Perks that won't disappear even after getting downed by getting the same Perk twice. It will only work on a Random Perk Power-Up, Mystery Perk Can, or Perkaholic GobbleGum. You won't be able to do it through the Free Perks trick during the match.
It will be faster to get the Permanent Pekrs through the Mystery Perk Cans, as they have a higher chance of spawning from T.E.D.D. Tasks and Toxic Growth Easter Egg.
