Each piece of the Bushido Gear Set increases one of four stats of a character by 4 and decreases each of the others by 1.
It's not recommended to wear the entire set at once as this will simply reduce the effects of all pieces. Characters should equip one or two pieces of the set to either push their strong stats to extremes or significantly boost one of their weaker stats.
Completing all six cups in the single player Cup Battle mode on the Normal Mode difficulty will unlock the Bushido Set, a more extreme set of gear which increases a single stat by 4 and decreases all others by 1. The Gear in this set are a bit pricier than others at 300 coins, but they can be worth it as they allow characters to increase their strong stats or change their capabilities more radically.
The Bushido Set is the only unlockable Gear confirmed so far, but it's possible that more will become available when the Strikers Club season begins.
Step | Explanation |
---|---|
1 | In the Gear Settings menu, select which character you wish to purchase/equip gear for. |
2 | Select which piece of gear you wish to purchase/equip. Switch between gear locations by pressing either L or R. |
3 | Select which specific gear you wish to purchase/equip and confirm by pressing A and you're done! |
Purchasing and equipping Gear is done by accessing Gear Settings menu. You can see how the Gear will change the selected character's stats, as well as the character's appearance before you purchase the gear you selected.
If you are having trouble winning matches, equipping your team members with gear can give you the advantage you need. Always check in Gear Settings how equipping a certain piece of Gear will affects your favorite character's stats before making a purchase.
While some may find it possible to finish the Normal Difficulty of Cup Battle Mode without equipping gear, many of the opponents in the Galactic Mode difficulty of Cup Battle Mode have Gear equipped, making them much more difficult ot deal with. Equipping gear to you team can give you the edge you need to clear this difficult mode.
Galactic Mode Guide: Tips and How to Unlock
Equipping your characters with Gear is the perfect way to increase their attributes.
Players are encouraged to equip Gear to characters to maximize their strongest attributes, or even make up for attributes they don't specialize in. This can done by either mixing and matching Gear, or wearing Gear Sets.
For example, players can equip Peach with the Cannon Set to make up for her Shooting attribute, making her a well rounded character overall.
Additionally, players can make Bowser a much stronger offensive type character by giving him the Muscle Set to max out his Strength attribute!
