How to Equip Tools
Access the Tool Menu
To equip tools before matching against Zeds, access the tool interface and select the tool that you wish to bring. Keep in mind that you're only limited to one tool at a time, so make sure to equip the one that provides most synergy with your playstyle.
All Perks Can Equip Any Tool
Each tool has a starting specialist who auto-equips them before any fight. These pre-equipped tools are more synergistic with the inherent role of each Perk, however, this doesn't mean you're forced into using it! Always equip the tool that you think will work best for you.
Talk to a Trader
Another way Specialists can equip tools is by talking to a trader mid-match. Interacting with a trader also refills the usage of each tool, which is important when preparing before a boss fight! Additionally, you can also sell your tools via trade-in for extra cash.
How to Use Tools
Press the Dedicated Button for Tools
You can use tools by either pressing the left D-pad on your controller, or by pressing 4 on your keyboard. Keep in mind that players have the option to remap the default keybinds should they wish to!
