| Tool | Rating | Explanation |

Ammo Bag
|
★★★★★ | Commando assault rifles consume ammo at a high rate. Useful for extra ammo and grenades. |
Multi-Tool
|
★★★★☆ | Support yourself and the team by opening Ziplines and Turrets. |
Syringe Bag
|
★★☆☆☆ | If needed, have extra Syringe Bags for more heals if the team doesn't have a Medic. |
The Commando’s (Foster) default Ammo Bag is the best tool for the Perk, supporting the high ammo consumption of your automatic weapons when clearing clusters of ZEDs. Running low on ammo as the Commando can be disastrous mid-fight.
If you're confident in managing ammo, the Multi-Tool is a great alternative, letting you activate useful devices like Turrets and Armor Chests to save resources.
Syringe Bags are also a solid option if your team lacks a Medic, pairing well with Commando’s syringe buff passive skills for extra healing.
Best Commando (Foster) Builds and Skills
| Tool | Rating | Explanation |
|---|---|---|
Ammo Bag
|
★★★★★ | Firebug weapons consume ammo at a high rate, and you'll also be focusing down most ZEDs. |
Pulse Lure
|
★★★★☆ | Use for its terrific crowd control that complements the Firebug's great AoE damage. |
Multi-Tool
|
★★★☆☆ | Support yourself and the team by opening Turrets to save ammo and Armor Cases for survivability. |
The Firebug burns through ammo quickly due to their role in continuously targeting most ZEDs that arrive. Extra Ammo Bags are essential in longer, high-difficulty waves and boss fights to maintain consistent damage output.
Alternatively, Pulse Lures and the Multi-Tool offer team support while also helping conserve ammo. Pulse Lures group ZEDs together, maximizing the Firebug’s strong AoE for efficient wave clearing. The Multi-Tool can activate Turrets, allowing them to take out enemies for you.
Best Firebug (Devlin) Builds and Skills
| Tool | Rating | Explanation |
|---|---|---|
Multi-Tool
|
★★★★★ | Multi-Tool usage benefits the Engineer's Lv2 Passive Skills as well as providing excellent team support. |
Explosive Lock
|
★★★☆☆ | Makes the Engineer's area lock down prowess stronger by inhibiting ZED entrances. |
Pulse Lure
|
★★☆☆☆ | Can be used for emergency crowd control if ZEDs are starting to swarm the team. |
| Engineer Level 2 Passives | |
|---|---|
Tool Up Tool Up Base Effect:
Killing enemies grants stacks of TOOL UP Different tools gain stacks at different rates. Swapping tools at the trader resets all stacks. TOOL UP: at 100 stacks, consume all stacks to refill 1 tool ammo |
Repairman Repairman Base Effect:
Using a tool repairs armor integrity up to a maximum of 20 each round. Different tools repair different amounts of armor integrity when used. |
The Engineer gets the most out of the Multi-Tool because of the Tool Up and Repairman level 2 passive skills. It’s already useful for activating devices like Ziplines and Turrets that aid in survival, and these passives add valuable bonuses like tool refills or armor repairs.
The Engineer excels at locking down areas with powerful shotgun penetration. The Explosive Lock can emphasize this by temporarily blocking ZED entry paths, while Pulse Lure can give extra crowd control to strengthen area defense if the enemies start swarming in.
Best Engineer (Imran) Builds and Skills
| Tool | Rating | Explanation |
|---|---|---|
Pulse Lure
|
★★★★★ | Pulse Lures help compensate for the Sharpshooter's limited crowd control and horde clearing ability. |
Ammo Bag
|
★★★★☆ | Swap to Ammo Bags during boss fights since Sharpshooter weapons have low ammo reserves. |
Syringe Bag
|
★★☆☆☆ | If needed, have extra Syringe Bags for more heals if the team doesn't have a Medic for the final boss. |
The Sharpshooter struggles with crowd control and large hordes, making Pulse Lures especially useful. They help distract ZEDs so you can line up headshots or create an opening to escape dangerous situations.
During boss fights, the Sharpshooter can run out of ammo quickly with the bosses’ erratic movements making it harder to land weak spot hits. Extra Ammo Bags help prevent running dry, especially since Sharpshooter weapons have limited reserve ammunition.
Alternatively, if your team lacks a Medic, Syringe Bags are a great choice to help sustain healing against the boss’s heavy damage.
Best Sharpshooter (Luna) Builds and Skills
| Tool | Rating | Explanation |
|---|---|---|
Shock Trap
|
★★★★★ | Shock Traps give the Ninja even more Electrical burst damage and can be deployed easily in melee range. |
Multi-Tool
|
★★★★☆ | Get extra mobility by activating Ziplines and armor repairs by opening locked crates. |
Syringe Bag
|
★★★☆☆ | Most useful to switch to during the boss fight, especially since you'll still be on the frontlines, likely getting damaged the most. |
Shock Traps give the Ninja strong crowd control together with high damage, pairing well with the Electrical Damage from Katanas and the Hebi-Ken to quickly burst down Scrakes and Fleshpounds. Since you're often in melee range, you can place traps directly in front of ZEDs for instant activation.
The Multi-Tool is still useful for the Ninja, allowing you to open Ziplines for mobility and Armor Cases for extra protection, which are both valuable for the Perk's mobile and aggressive playstyle.
If your team lacks a Medic during the boss fight and you're not using the Kenko parry passive skill for the heal, Syringe Bags become especially valuable, as there are also fewer normal ZEDs in the boss wave to trigger your other healing passives.
Best Ninja (Nakata) Builds and Skills
| Tool | Rating | Explanation |
|---|---|---|
Multi-Tool
|
★★★★★ | The ideal support tool for the support-focused class, by activating various structures to help the team. |
Syringe Bag
|
★★★★☆ | Swap to the Syringe Bag during boss fights since you'll have less time to use the Multi-Tool. |
The Multi-Tool is the best choice for Medics, offering strong support by opening Ziplines for mobility, Turrets to lock down zones, and Armor Cases to repair team armor. It complements the Medic’s support role perfectly.
During boss fights, you're unlikely to use the Multi-Tool as often. Having extra Syringe Bags instead is much more helpful, boosting your team's survivability in the final battle.
