Listening to Echoes of the Past is unlocked after completing the The Truth is Close from Chapter 2 of the Main Quest. This quest will only be available for a limited time alongside the duration of the New Bloom Festival event on February 25, 2025 so make sure to complete it before then!

Ask Hiya What Happened on the Ship

Boarding the White Jade and heading to the quarterdeck triggers a cutscene where Captain Hiya requests Nikki's help in finding a woman named Du Yubai.

Momo suggests that Du Yubai might be in Pony Pastures, searching for a replacement string for her Pipa. With this clue, the duo sets off to begin their search.

Head to the Pony Pasture to Find Du Yubai

Teleport to the Bug Catcher's Cabin Warp Spire and head southeast toward the area closest to the shoreline. There, you'll find Du Yubai surrounded by Esselings. Purify all 5 Esselings, then speak with Du Yubai who asks for help in collecting some Pony Curls.

Give the Pony Curls to Du Yubai

If you already have Pony Curls in your inventory, hand them over to Du Yubai. Otherwise, you may groom any of the Noble Ponies running around Pony Pastures near Du Yubai, then return to her with the material.

Collect Pony Curls

Pony Curls can be collected from Noble Ponies, easily identified by their blonde mane contrasting against their brown coat. These ponies are generally skittish, so approach them cautiously by holding down your groom ability button and releasing it when you're close to successfully collect their locks!

How to Get Pony Curls

Take a Photo of Du Yubai and Her Pipa

With her Pipa repaired, Nikki offers to take a commemorative photo of Du Yubai as she tunes the instrument. Equip the camera and ensure Du Yubai is within the viewfinder's frame. For a focused shot, toggle Hide Nikki On to exclude her from the photo.

After capturing the moment, submit the photo to Du Yubai and help her search for a man named Mark, an important friend to her ancestor, whose last known location was in Wishfield.

Meet Du Yubai at the Mayor's Residence

Teleport to the Warp Spire In Front of the Mayor's Residence and speak with Du Yubai there. Enter the Mayor's Residence afterward and speak with the titular woman herself by selecting the Explain Du Yubai's Intentions option.

After an enlightening conversation, the Mayor points Nikki to Monaco, Fournier, and Elettra who may be descendants of Mark that Du Yubai is looking for.

Go to Lilina Street to Find Monaco

Walk to the street in front of the Kingdom Guards' Office in Florawish and speak with Monaco. He shares the history of Florawish's rebuilding and the significant role his ancestor, Mark, played in it.

However, after being presented with Du Yubai's paper crane, Monaco regretfully informs Nikki that his ancestor may not be the one she is searching for. Despite this, Du Yubai requests a photo to commemorate their meeting.

Take a Photo of Du Yubai and Monaco

Take out your camera once more and snap a photo of the pair. Make sure to toggle Hide Nikki On for a clearer shot! Once done, submit the photo to Du Yubai and be on your way to the other prospective descendants.

Go to Ray and Wing's and Find Fournier

Head to Ray and Wing's located east of the Great Wishtree Square and find Fournier in the middle of a discussion with his assistant, Jeka. Nikki notices their distress and offers her and Du Yubai's help to organize a customer's special request gone awry.

Submit a Sunny Orchid, Rainy Orchid, or Florapom to Jeka

Depending on what you have in your inventory, submit either a Sunny Orchid, Rainy Orchid, or a Florapom to Jeka. If you don’t have any of the requested flowers, you can locate the nearest one by tracking it through the Collections tab on your Map.

Afterward, wait for the proposal to begin in front of the restaurant counter and agree to take a photo of the sweet moment afterward.
How to Track Materials

Take a Photo of Du Yubai With the Guests and Upload the Photo

With the camera, snap a shot of Du Yubai and the guests with Nikki included in the frame! Afterward, press the Upload button on the upper right side of the screen to show off the fun evening!

Du Yubai and Nikki converse with Fournier about his ancestor, Mark, but he sadly confirms that he is not the person Du Yubai is seeking. Undeterred, they set off to find the last person on their list.

Go to the Dream Warehouse Tower and Look for Elettra

Teleport to the Dream Warehouse Tower Warp Spire and head down to the first floor where Elettra is trapped underneath a heavy box. After rescuing her, Nikki immediately asks about her ancestor named Mark.

The turning point comes when Elettra reveals her ancestor's journal, revealing the bittersweet truth: he passed away young, unable to fulfill his promise to Du Yubai's ancestor. While the Paper Crane can't be returned to him, Elettra invites them to fly it at the Dream Warehouse’s Highest Point in his memory.

Go to the Dream Warehouse Rooftop and Release the Paper Crane

Teleport to the Dream Warehouse Rooftop to meet with Elettra and Du Yubai and fly the Paper Crane. Afterward, speak with Du Yubai and agree to meet her at the White Jade to watch her performance of the complete song in honor of her ancestor and Mark.

Board the White Jade at Night

Teleport to Florawish Lane and head toward Flora Wharf to board the White Jade. You may either set the time between the hours of 22:00-04:00 before entering the ship, or simply interact with the Golden Beacon in front of the doors to automatically skip time.

After entering, take a seat on the front row and watch Du Yubai's passionate performance.

Take a Photo With Du Yubai and Upload the Picture

To commemorate such a spectacular moment, take your camera out one last time and take a photo of Du Yubai with Nikki posed beside her. Press the Upload button on the upper right side of your screen to seal the deal and complete the quest after a short, awe-inspiring conversation.
