How to Get Essences

Upgrade Abilities in Heart of Infinity

To unlock the ability to get Essences, you first need to upgrade Nikki's gathering skills in the Heart of Infinity skill tree.

Each has its own upgrade path and requirements, but generally you need Whimstars, Insights and Bling to upgrade each skill node. You also need to unlock the previous node before you can progress through the next ones.

Note: There are upgrade nodes between the first and second upgrade which you need to unlock first.

Each upgrade per ability will give you a chance to get an Essence whenever you collect a material with the method tied to the item, but only when you're in a specific area.

For example, in the fishing skill's first upgrade, you will be able to get Essences when fishing only while you're in Memorial Mountains and Florawish, while the second upgrade will allow you to get Essences in Breezy Meadow.

How to Get Insight

You can get Insights mainly from gathering resources in the overworld, whether by picking up materials, grooming animals, catching bugs, or fishing.

You can also get more Insights in the Realm of Nourishment, where you can exchange materials and Vital Energy for any Insight that you need.

Once you have unlocked the necessary skill upgrade, you will now have a chance to obtain Essences even when you're just gathering materials normally.

Use to Craft Outfits and Clothing Pieces

All types of Essences are mainly used to make certain Outfits and Clothing Pieces in the Sketches menu.

Try to upgrade your resource-gathering nodes in your Heart of Infinity skill tree so you can easily stock up on Essences even if you're just wandering around the map while collecting materials!
