Kill the Bandits
After the dialogue with Vesemir, Lilac and Gooseberries will be completed and automatically transition to The Incident at White Orchard quest. Make sure to complete any of your unfinished time-bound secondary quests, as they will fail once this quest starts.
Kill all the bandits in the tavern. Using Igni at the start of the fight will hit most, if not all of them. Once all enemies have been defeated, a cutscene leading to the next quest will play out, automatically starting the Imperial Audience.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to avoid this fight. Throughout the game, there will be unavoidable encounters where you don't have a choice but to let Geralt solve the problem with his blades.
