Airships can help you travel quickly between regions and continents. You can only unlock the Airships during or after completing chapters specific chapters in the game.
You can get your first Airship, The Eschalot, at the end of the Intro (Chapter 0).
There's a Day and Night Cycle mechanic in the game that changes at a regular interval. You can force it to switch to morning if you rest at an Inn. If you want to explore at night, you will have no choice but to pass some time somewhere as you won't be able to manipulate it.
Day and Night Cycle affects the spawn of monsters in the game. Monsters can appear any time of the day, but there are some specific monsters that may only appear during the Day or during the Night.
There are two types of chests you can loot in the game, which are the Red and Blue Chests. The Red Chests are the regular ones you can see inside dungeons and the Blue Chests are locked and require a key.
The key for the Blue Chests can be obtained once you get to Chapter 6.
Aside from chests, there are also hidden items that you can get inside of towns or buildings. These hidden items may be hiding from a closet, plants, rocks, boxes, and other similar places.
Dungeons have different traps and mechanisms that you might activate while exploring. These traps can inflict damage or give status conditions to your character if you accidentally activate them.
It's best to bring healing and curing items when going out to explore a dungeon.
