Status Effects can occur as buffs, debuffs or ailments in Bravely Default Flying Fairy HD Remaster. See how many status effects there are and what they do in this guide!

All Status Effects

List of Status Ailments

Status Ailments Effects on Battle
Poison HP decreases each turn.
Blind The accuracy of physical attacks gets reduced.
Silence Prevents the affected character to use magic.
Sleep The affected character falls asleep, making them unable to move for certain turns.
Paralyze The affected character gets paralyzed, making them unable to move for certain turns.
Dread Brave or Default cannot be used. If your BP is 1 or more, it reverts back to 0.
Confuse Temporarily removes control of the affected character. The character will automatically attack and will either attack an ally or enemy.
Charm Temporarily removes control of the affected character. The character will automatically attack an ally or will heal an enemy.
Doom Adds a count above the affected character's head. If the count reaches 0, the character will automatically die.
Status Down Debuffs your character stats temporarily in battle. Can range from debuffing strength, defense, hit rate, evasion, speed, etc.
Attribute Weakness Take more damage from certain attributes.
Stop The affected character is unable to move. You are unable to avoid physical attacks.
Death Kills the affected character regardless of their HP.
Berserk Raises the affected character's Physical Attack by 50% but you cannot control the character temporarily. Character will attack random enemies if there are multiple.
Love Love causes the affected character to copy the exact moves of the other character they are in love with. If the loved character receives damage or status ailments, the lover will take the same damage or ailments too. An incurable status effect which means you need to be put in a K.O state and then get revived to lose the status effect.

Status Effects Explained

Buff or Debuff Effects in Combat

In battle, certain spells or abilities can apply status effects which can be both advantageous or detrimental depending on what was casted on the character. This can range from being poisoned, asleep, paralyzed, buffing stats temporarily and many more.

Can Temporarily Raise or Lower Stats

There are abilities that can temporarily increase or decrease a character's stat in battle. The following stats can be increased depending on the ability used:

Strength Defense Magic Attack
Magic Defense Accuracy Evasion
Critical Rate Speed Attack Hits

Some Status Ailments Disappear After Certain Turns

Some status ailments automatically recover even without using a status ailment healing item after a few turns. The chances of a status ailment getting removed gets higher on each passing turn. Refer to the table below for the six status ailments that automatically get cured after certain turns.
