You should use each of the early game job asterisks to complete your team during the early part of the story. This is a balanced team that outputs good physical attack, as well as decent magic against enemies.
Brave allows the character to do multiple actions within one turn while Default reduces the damage taken by accumulating BP (Brave Points).
You can Brave up to 4 times per turn which means that it is effective when clearing regular enemies or when you want to defeat an enemy in one go. Defending yourself and accumulating BP with Default is ideal during boss fights.
There are many ways to deal with enemies more efficiently and to maximize your rewards after every battle. Learn all the combat tips in order to fully enjoy the combat system of the game.
Combat Tip | Explanation |
---|---|
Increase Agility to Increase Number of Hits | Wear equipment that increases your Agility so you can do more hits per attack which means more damage against the enemy. |
Stack Buffs | Stack buffs to your characters to increase their effectiveness during the battle. |
Spam Brave on Regular Enemies | Using Brave against regular enemies is an effective way of clearing them out quickly and to grind fast. |
Take Out the Supports During Boss Fights | Supports themselves aren't usually dangerous but their worth is that they power up the damage dealer on their team which makes them a hindrance and should be targeted first. |
Achieve Combat Bonus to Increase Rewards | Finishing a battle with combat bonus will increase your EXP, JP, or money depending on the bonus you get. |
Status Effects are temporary effects to your characters that affect their performance ranging from status ailments that can hinder your character in different ways, or buffing/debuffing your character to affect your character's output during battle.

List of All Characters and Stats Explained
It is important to change your jobs often and level them up rather than just sticking into one job all throughout the game. Leveling up a job will unlock more useful abilities that you can equip even when you don't equip that job.
Grinding your jobs early game until they reach max level might be tempting even if it will take long. However, it is important to note that the second half of the game will give you more JP than the early parts of the game so it is more efficient leveling up your jobs once you hit the second half of the game (starting at Chapter 5).
Usually, the recent job that you acquire is very useful, but if you just unlocked that job along with a new, more difficult area, we recommend leveling up your new job first before fighting that new area. This is because a high job level also improves your damage when equipping that job.
Having a support character is ideal to have in the party. However, having more than two support jobs is not recommended as you want to balance your team with some damage dealer jobs.
