Magic Explained

Has Various Effects

Magic has different types of effects from one another, like inflicting damage, buffing your characters, or weakening the enemies. Some magic have elements or attributes as well, allowing the caster to deal more damage when attacking an enemy with an specific elemental weakness.

To learn magic, you must first purchase a Spellbook and reach a specific Job Level to cast one.

Total of Six Magic Types

There are 6 total magic types in the game, and each one has different roles and effects on the battlefield. White Magic has recovery spells, while Black Magic has spells used for offense.

On the other hand, Time Magic is for buffing up the speed of the characters, and Sword Magic can be flexible as they can imbue their weapons with White of Black Magic.

Main feature is to heal and remove status effects on allies.
Black Magic Black Mage
Red Mage
Main feature is to deal damage, but there are some that can inflict debuffs.
Time Magic Time Mage Mostly gives Speed and Evasion buffs on allies.
Sword Magic Spell Fencer Can imbue weapons with White or Black Magic, granting them bonus effects.
Summons Summoner Magic that can summon a beast to attack the enemies.
Invocation Conjurer A special magic that summons beasts to buff the caster.

List of All Jobs

Requires a Spellbook and a Specific Job Level

Most of the magic are available at Magic Shops in towns, and you can purchase them using PG. The magic you bought from the shop are shared among all party members, meaning everyone can use it as long as they meet the Job Level requirement.

For example, you must level up a character with the White Mage job if you want to cast a higher level of White Magic.

Summons and Invocation Can be Learned Through Trials

Summons and Invocation Magic are obtained by fighting Hermits and enduring their attacks. You won't be able to get them from any shops, making them a bit difficult to obtain.

Obtaining these magics and leveling up the Summoner and Conjurer jobs will give you more powerful options in battle!

Some Magic Can Be Cast Outside of Combat

Some magic can be used outside of combat through the Magic tab of the menu. Most of them are recovery magic or for curing status effects, but there are also some convenient magic like the Teleport Time Magic that allows you to escape a dungeon instantly.

The Job Level requirement still applies when using them outside of combat, so be sure you have a character that can use it.
