This ability has a 25% chance of increasing BP by 1 when you receive damage. It activates not only when hit by a single attack but also by an all-out attack, making it easier to earn BP in boss battles where enemies strike multiple times.
BP Recovery
(Lv 9)
This ability increases BP by 2 when you suffer a status ailment. It activates regardless of whether the ailment is inflicted by a single attack or a widespread effect, making it a reliable way to gain BP in battles against enemies that frequently inflict status ailments.
Adrenaline
(Lv 7)
Defeating an enemy with your attack increases your BP by 1. If you defeat multiple enemies at once, your BP increases by the total number of enemies defeated.
In the Red
(Lv 14)
The lower your BP is when you act, the more damage you will deal with magic.

Utilize BP from Revenge

If you equip the support ability Revenge, which is unique to the Red Mage, you can gain BP just by receiving damage from enemies, making it easier to create an offensive starting point. The increased BP can be used not only for yourself but also to support allies.

For example, if you set the Spiritmaster's Spiritism in your Job Command, you can conserve BP and repeatedly heal or buff. Alternatively, you can combine it with the Performer’s Singing to strengthen your entire team and then launch an all-out attack

How to Play the Red Mage

Use Black and White Magic

Red Mages are attackers and supporters who can use both white and black magic. Their greatest appeal lies in their high intelligence and spirit, allowing them to balance offense and recovery. In addition, they have a broad weapon aptitude, handling swords, axes, and spears above average, enabling flexible combat with a variety of equipment.

The Job Command B/W Magic grants access to black and white magic up to level 4, with effects similar to those used by dedicated white and black mages. Depending on party composition and battle conditions, a single Red Mage can fulfill multiple roles, using black magic like Fira for offense and white magic like Cura for healing and support.

Additionally, the Red Mage's unique support abilities—Turn Tables, Revenge, and Revival—are highly valuable tactically, providing BP boosts or reducing MP consumption to 0 under certain conditions. Many of these abilities remain effective when set on other jobs, making it worthwhile to train a Red Mage to learn them.

All-Rounder

The Red Mage is a job characterized by its ability to freely use attack and recovery magic while easily increasing BP with support abilities. With a wide range of equipment compatibility, they can also participate in physical attacks using swords and spears, making them an all-rounder that enhances the party's firepower and stability. By incorporating Revenge and Adrenaline, you can efficiently rotate BP and maintain a good balance between attack and recovery.

3 B/W Magic Lv.2 Type: Command
Enables use of level 2 white magic and black magic: Protect, Shell, Aero, Silence, Poison, and Sleep. Note that these cannot be used without the appropriate scrolls.
4 Turn Tables Type: Support
Raise BP by one when evading an enemy attack.
5 MP Free in a Pinch Type: Support
MP cost falls to zero when your HP is below 20%.
6 B/W Magic Lv.3 Type: Command
Enables use of level 3 white magic and black magic: Cura, Raise, Esuna, Fira, Blizzara, and Thundara. Note that these cannot be used without the appropriate scrolls.
7 Adrenaline Type: Support
BP rises by one when your attack defeats an enemy. Note that if you simultaneously defeat multiple enemies, your BP rises by the number of enemies defeated.
8 Save Magic MP Type: Support
Lower the MP cost of black, white, time, and summon magic by 25%.
9 BP Recovery Type: Support
Raise BP by two when sustaining a status ailment.
10 B/W Magic Lv.4 Type: Command
Enables use of level 4 white magic and black magic: Reflect, Dispel, Aerora, Drain, Aspir, and Fear. Note that these cannot be used without the appropriate scrolls.
11 Revenge Type: Support
Has a 25% chance to increase BP by one when taking damage. Poison damage does not trigger this ability.
12 Revival Type: Support
Has a 75% chance to raise your BP by two when your HP falls below 20%. Using abilities that consume your own HP does not trigger this ability, however.
13 An Eye for an Eye Type: Support
When your HP falls below 20%, the chance of scoring a critical hit will rise by 900% for five turns.
