What are Jobs?

Classes That Can be Set For Each Character

A job is a class that can be assigned to each character. At the beginning of the game, the only available starting job is Freelancer, but as you progress through the story, a total of 24 jobs will eventually be unlocked. When leveling up jobs and organizing a party, it is important to understand what roles each job excels at. In this guide, jobs are broadly categorized into three roles: attack, healing, and support.

Three Roles And The Jobs Suitable For Each Role

Attacker
(Physical Attack)
Monk, Spell Fencer, Pirate, Templar, Knight, Ranger, Ninja, Valkyrie, Swordmaster, Dark Knight, Vampire
Attacker
(Magic Attack)
Black Mage, Red Mage, Time Mage, Arcanist, Summoner, Conjurer
Healer White Mage, Red Mage, Salve-Maker, Spiritmaster
Support Freelancer, Merchant, Time Mage, Salve-Maker, Performer, Spiritmaster, Vampire

Attacker

The Attacker is responsible for dealing damage to enemies. Within this category, there are two types of jobs: those that specialize in physical attacks by taking advantage of their strength and speed, those that focus on magic attacks by enhancing intelligence to maximize spell damage.

There are also certain jobs, such as Ninja and Time Mage, that can play both support and offensive roles, offering versatility in battle. To draw out their maximum firepower, set up offensive commands like Piracy or Black Magic.

Healer

Jobs that can use white magic or healing abilities are generally in charge of healing. White Mage and Red Mage support allies with recovery spells such as Cure, while Salve-Maker and Spiritmaster are characterized by their ability to significantly increase the amount of recovery. Since Salve-Maker and Spiritmaster do not have access to healing magic by default, they must be paired with White Magic or B/W Magic commands to maximize their potential.

Support

The Support focuses on boosting allies' abilities, reducing damage taken, and making dungeon exploration easier. These jobs are a great help in surviving difficult boss battles and long dungeons. Having a lineup of support abilities in addition to healers will greatly improve the stability of the entire party.

By combining the three roles in a well-balanced way and taking advantage of the strengths of each job, you can organize your party to progress through the story more smoothly. Choosing the best job will also vary greatly depending on whether you want to prioritize attack, recovery, or support. Switch jobs according to the situation and enjoy the 24 different combinations.

Templar is unlocked by defeating Braev. Spiritmaster is unlocked by defeating Victor. Not that it matters much, just a minor mistake on this page.
