Chapter 5 Walkthrough and Side Boss Locations

This is a walkthrough for Chapter 5 of Bravely Default Flying Fairy HD Remaster. Read on for a complete walkthrough of Chapter 5, as well as all the side boss locations in this article.

Chapter 5 Walkthrough

Kingdom of Caldisla

1 Talk to the Innkeep
Watch the events where you will be awoken by Innkeep Karl in the inn in Caldisla. Eventually, the other party members will approach Tiz and they will discuss their current predicament. Talk to Innkeep Karl after the cutscene.
You can only use Tiz at this point.
2 Talk to the King
Chapter 5 - 1
Exit the inn and go to the Caldisla castle to talk to the king.
3 Gather Your Friends
Chapter 5 - 2
Go outside of Caldisla and then go to Norende. Watch the events and you will have Agnes back in your party.

Chapter 5 - 3
Go back to Caldisla and talk to Ringabel at the east of the town and he will rejoin the party.
Chapter 5 - 4
Finally, go to the cemetery at the west to recruit Edea back.
4 Ride the Grand Ship
Chapter 5 - 5
Watch the events and Datz will arrive in the inn informing you of their situation. After the events, the game will now tell you that you can now surpass 9999 damage and healing via Bravely Second.

Your current mission is to go back to the four Temples and awaken the crystals again.

Awaken the Crystals

1 Go to the Temples
You will have to go back to the temples again in order to release their crystals. Note that you will have to fight the same bosses that you've encountered in their respective temples and will be slightly stronger than their previous counterparts.
If you want to unlock the False Final Chapter, just keep pressing the X button when awakening a crystal even if Airy tells you to stop. This will lead to the destruction of the crystal and will lead to a chapter that will give you the normal ending.
2 Fight Orthros in Temple of Wind
Chapter 5 - 6
You will fight Orthros again once you reach the Crystal Room.

┣ Attack the Fire Head with Water and the Ice Head with Fire.
┗ Default to gain BP, and then counterattack when its BP becomes negative.

3 Awaken the Temple of Wind Crystal
Chapter 5 - 7
Awaken the crystal after the boss fight. Press X repeatedly until Airy tells you to stop.
As mentioned earlier, you can continue and ignore Airy until the crystal is destroyed if you want to unlock the false final chapter.
4 Fight Rusalka in Temple of Water
Chapter 5 - 8
You will fight Rusalka again once you reach the Crystal Room.

┗ Use Lightning attacks to deal more damage. Prepare Lightning Spells and Enchantments before the fight.

5 Awaken the Temple of Water Crystal
Chapter 5 - 9
Awaken the crystal after the boss fight. Press X repeatedly until Airy tells you to stop.
As mentioned earlier, you can continue and ignore Airy until the crystal is destroyed if you want to unlock the false final chapter.
6 Go to Yulyana's House
Chapter 5 - 10
After awakening two crystals, you will need to visit Yulyana again in his house located on the east. He will tell you that he is a different version of the Yulyana you know. He will tell you to go to the cave at the west to meet him.
7 Go to Vestment Cave
Chapter 5 - 11
Go to the Vestment Cave located to the southwest of Yulyana's house. Agnes and Tiz are the only ones who can explore this area during this part of the game. Head to the B3 area of the cave to meet Yulyana again. Watch the scenes and then exit the cave to continue to the other temples.

8 Enter the Mythril Mines
Chapter 5 - 12
Head to the Mythril Mines to get to the Temple of Fire and awaken the crystal there.

9 Enter the Underflow
Chapter 5 - 13
Continue your way to Underflow. You can use the same path as you take before.

10 Fight Chaugmar in Temple of Fire
Chaugmar
Once inside the temple, head to the Crystal Room and fight Chaugmar.

┣ Chaugmar is weak against Lightning, so use Lightning spells and enchantments to damage it.
┣ Default and use buffs in the first 4 turns, as Chaugmar will have a defensive barrier.
┗ Once the barrier is broken, use Brave and spam him with attacks.

11 Awaken the Temple of Fire Crystal
Chapter 5 - 14
Awaken the crystal after the boss fight. Press X repeatedly until Airy tells you to stop.
As mentioned earlier, you can continue and ignore Airy until the crystal is destroyed if you want to unlock the false final chapter.
12 Enter the Everlast Tower
Chapter 5 - 15
Go to the Everlast Tower to reach the final temple, Temple of Earth, and awaken its crystal.

13 Fight Gigas Lich in Temple of Earth
Gigas Lich
Once inside the temple, head to the Crystal Room and fight Gigas Lich.

┣ Gigas Lich is weak against Light, so use Light spells and enchantments to damage it.
┣ It has an instant death abilities, so use resurrection spells or items to counter it.
14 Awaken the Temple of Earth Crystal
Chapter 5 - 16
Awaken the crystal after the boss fight. Press X repeatedly until Airy tells you to stop.
As mentioned earlier, you can continue and ignore Airy until the crystal is destroyed if you want to unlock the false final chapter.

15 Go to the Holy Pillar
Chapter 5 - 17
Exit the last temple that you visit and the Holy Pillar that appeared from the previous chapter should appear in the same location.
16 Defeat Alternis
Alternis
Fight Alternis again in the Holy Pillar.

┣ No particular weakness
┗ Prepare and equip items with Dark Reduction as Alternis uses Dark attacks.

Chapter 5 Sub-Scenario Bosses

Bosses from Sub-Scenarios will be Revived

Boss Map

Sub-scenario bosses will also return in various locations all over the world. Although they are only side quests, you can still do them as they offer additional story content.

Obtain the Nightmare Pillow

You can get Nightmare Pillows from the bosses that returned on Chapter 5. You can use them at the inn to battle the bosses that were only available in the 3DS version.

Revives on Chapter 6 as well

All the bosses that returned on Chapter 5 will be revived on Chapter 6 as well. It won't still a required quest, so you can take your time or skip them entirely if you must.

Orthros Boss Fight Tips
CheckmarkThe strategy is the same as when you fought it on Chapter 1.
CheckmarkOrthros can attack twice in a turn. Default to save BP and reduce damage then attack with all your might once you get enough BP.
CheckmarkLeft Head (Ice) is weak against Fire, and the Right Head (Fire) is weak against Water.
CheckmarkAttacking using its elemental weaknesses will cancel out its AoE attacks.

CheckmarkThe strategy is the same as when you fought it on Chapter 2.
CheckmarkIf you're only fighting the main body, save BP by defaulting
CheckmarkUse Thundara or Crescent Moon once the clones appear to beat them fast

CheckmarkUse Protect to counter the defense reduction caused by Aqua Regia

CheckmarkThe strategy is the same as when you fought it on Chapter 3.
CheckmarkWhen the barrier is up, you can deal less damage, so wait for it to go down first.
CheckmarkOnce its eyes open, the next turn will be a powerful AoE attack.
CheckmarkCounterattack after surviving the attack.

CheckmarkThe power-up effect can be removed using Dispel.
