The Beast of Toussaint Main Objectives

Objectives
1 Help Guillaume kill Golyat the giant.
2 Follow Milton to the site where the body was found.
3 Search for signs of the guardsmen's activities using your Witcher Senses.
4 Kill the Scurvers in the area.
5 Dive down the river and find the handkerchief using your Witcher Senses.
6 Go back and speak to Milton about what you found.
7 Follow Milton towards the inn and ask the fisherman for details about the body.
8 Travel to Corvo Bianco and go down the cellar.

Guards of Corvo Bianco (Optional)

Objectives
1 Investigate what killed the guards using your Witcher Senses.
2 Read about the Bruxa in your bestiary.

Back to Main Path

Objectives
9 Kill the Bruxa and examine the body on the table.
10 Go to Palmerin and speak with him.
11 Deal with the Shaelmaar with Palmerin.
12 Follow the duchess towards the palace gardens.
13 Retrieve the clues from the Horn of the Unicorn and the Golden Fish.
14 Meet and discuss with Anrietta about the clues you have found.

Choices

Objective 11 Choice: Kill or Spare the Shaelmaar

Witcher 3 Choice Shaelmaar

This choice can affect the Secondary Quest There Can Only Be One where Geralt must prove his compassion.

If you choose to spare the Shaelmaar, the deed will be count as Geralt proving his compassion. If you choose to kill the Shaelmaar, then it will not affect the quest stated above.

Objective 13 Choice: Dealing with the Courtiers

Witcher 3 Choice Courtiers

If you chose to use Axii to calm down the horse and get the clue on the Unicorn's horn, a group of Courtiers will approach you after getting the clue. If you cast Axii on the Courtiers, you will avoid a 3 on 1 fist fight with them and move on. If you choose either the 2nd or 3rd option, it will end with a 3 on 1 fist fight with the 3 Courtiers.

The Beast of Toussaint Riddle Solution

After getting the Unicorn Horn and the Golden Fish, Geralt and Anna Henrietta will have to solve a riddle to figure out where Milton is. The answer to the riddle is "The greenhouse". But even if you choose wrong, Anna will get the right answer anyway. Getting it right will count towards the virtue of wisdom in the quest There Can Be Only One.

Questing Tips

Objective 13: Horn of the Unicorn

In this part of the quest, you can either cast Axii on the horse to immediately calm it down, or pick an apple in the large basket to your right near the people having a picnic to lure it to you.

Objective 13: Golden Fish

Witcher 3 Golden Fish Location

The Golden Fish is located under the southernmost fishing boat nearest to the shore. If you get the contents of 2 or more fish that are not the Golden Fish, a cutscene where Geralt chases a boat will play when you get near the Golden Fish.

Objective 14: Discussing the clues

Witcher 3 Clues Answer

After gathering all the clues to the location of Milton's hideout, you are given multiple choices to answer which one is the correct hideout.

The correct answer will be the option It's a greenhouse!. Either way, if you pick any of the other options, Anrietta will still figure out the right answer to all of the clues.

Combat Strategies

Golyat

Witcher 3 Golyat

  • Coat your Silver Sword with Ogroid Oil to deal bonus damage to them.
  • Cast the Quen Sign regularly to protect yourself from its heavy attacks.
  • After dodging from one of the giant's heavy attacks, there will be a large opening to attack him.

Scurver

  • Coat your Silver Sword with Necrophage oil to deal bonus damage to them.
  • You can cast the Igni Sign to burn them and give yourself an opening to attack.
  • When their health gets low freezes, you need to immediately roll away to escape their death explosion which will stun you.
Rotfiend Weaknesses and Loot

Bruxa

Witcher 3 Bruxa

  • Coat your Silver Sword with Vampire Oil to deal bonus damage to them.
  • Drink the Black Blood potion to damage him in case he bites you to drink your blood.
  • You can counterattack most of its attacks, and it will leave a large opening for you to attack him.

Shaelmaar

Witcher 3 Shaelmaar

  • Coat your Silver Sword in Relict Oil to deal bonus damage to it.
  • Cast your Aard Sign or throw a Samum Bomb to make it vulnerable and start attacking.
  • When it starts rolling, you can dodge away at the last second to make it hit a wall and turn over. This will make all your attacks crit.
