| 1 | Go to the Bootblack during the day. (8AM to 8PM) |
| 2 | Deal with the thugs harassing the Bootblack, then speak to the Bootblack. |
| 3 | Follow Regis through the city and enter the toy shop. |
| 4 | Investigate the objects in the toy shop. |
| 5 | Exhaust all dialogue options with Regis. |

When speaking with the Bootblack, he will ask you for 500 crowns for him to give you additional info on Dettlaff. You can either negotiate with him, or use Axii on him so you will not have to pay the additional crowns.
If you picked the option to negotiate with him, you are given the chance to reduce the amount of crowns that he is asking for.
However, if you still pay him the full 500 crowns, this action will be counted as proving Geralt's Generosity for the Secondary Quest: There Can Be Only One.
There are two key objects to examine in order to progress the quest. Each time you loot one of the key objects, a conversation with Regis starts. You can choose to answer Regis in any way you wish.
